Rovers played at Corinthians in Nov 1936 beating them 2-0 in the FA Cup. Match played at the Crystal Palace which burnt to the ground just days later. Indeed Steve Hamer was player manager of Casuals in early 1970s. Were any sh*theads implicated in the burning down of a stadium that Rovers had just played in? It's what they do... And my opinion of Steve Hamer has just gone up.

Is this the first time that Rovers have played Corinthian Casuals ? I know that city played them in the cup once but I don't remember Rovers playing them.. I quite fancy this game and Blyth Spartans away in the cup would be another good one.
Don't know is the answer. The link to the team comes from Steve Hamer who played for them and even managed them for a short time. I like the founding concept of the team: playing only amateurs, never questioning the ref and generally playing to the spirit of the game. Watched them up at Wembley at one of their anniversary celebrations against AFC Wimbledon; it was strange with just one side of the ground used - it was a poor game. Their strip is chocolate and pink. Oooosh! I reckon that would look good in quarters... Personal choice would be chocolate and cream away quarters - GWR livery.

Fry's old factory in Keynsham is being converted into The Chocolate Quarter - and Fry's Cream Bar used to be made there. Must be an omen for you.

From BP:
..."Supporters considering following the Tigers to their pre-season fixtures in Portugal are advised not to book travel and accommodation until further notice," said a Hull City statement.

Tbf there was really little doubt. Sounds like Hull City have the same safety officer as Wycombe!
Any excuse not to get turned over by The Gas..

This will be my first Rovers game for 4 years since emigrating. I thought our stronger squad would have gone to Yate not Melksham but I'm expecting a five-goal victory even at pre-season!
