If midweek and next weekend games go against them, we could send Coventry down with a win next Saturday. (Assuming I have got my numbers right)
That will be tough for Coventry (who I've always had a soft spot for) and for Rovers as I'm sure Coventry will be fighting tooth and nail to avoid the drop however inevitable it may look.
I'm hoping they get something against fellow strugglers Port Vale on Tuesday night.

I particularly feel sorry for the supporters who have followed the team over 40 years. Whilst the Premier League has generated wealth for many involved in some way with English Football the drug of potential wealth has had an opposite effect with others. Coventry has had owners, foreign investors and certain players who have used the club for their individual need at the detriment of the essence of the club - the supporters. From having Highfield Road being sold off for a pittance to the whole Ricoh arena disaster the poor supporter has seen the identity of the club almost totally removed from them.
The FA should accept a degree of liability as they are the ultimate guardians of football (*which covers every aspect of football to grassroots) yet they seem to believe the free market is the best mechanism to allow football to progress. Well ask the Coventry fan, Morcambe fan, Portsmouth fan, Leyton Orient fan. Over 100,000 fans (probably more) just from those four clubs have seen how the FA have looked the other way when it came to approving new (foreign) owners to take over the running, The four clubs have over 400 years of history but what does that matter to the FA.
Saying that, I hope we get three points at Coventry but I also look at them and think they could have so easily been us. Higgs could have sold us to anyone and we were linked with all sorts of dodgy people before WAQ came along.

Agree with all that. A perfectly respectable club, which back in the day of a more even playing field had long term success, has had the life blood drained out of it. I'd rather we weren't around when they go down (ideally it would happen due to results elsewhere when they're not playing and no-one's around). It's maximise dignity time, I'm afraid.
Then again, if anyone has to 'do it', I (like to) think our fans would be more respectful than most (with good cause as well as defaulting that way anyway).

Heard an interesting stat..
In the last 40years, Cov have never finished in top 6 of their respective division!
Amazing, if true!
Just goes to show the demise of an established club started a long time ago.

Lets remember that Coventry are the citys 'buddy' club, how they gleefully connived together to stay up in the old 1st division, kicked off late and when they heard the other result ( Everton v Sunderland ? ) and knew that they only needed a point each didnt cros the half way line or make a tackle.
So Rovers might send them down,oh dear, someone else will send them down again next season maybe Accrington how ironic that would be,Coventry 30 odd years in the top division and FA cup winners put down into non league by the comeback club.
I think that Coventry supporters have the opportunity to show that they are as loyal as the supporters of Aldershot,Accrington,Newport etc etc etc, clubs who went out of the league but still get loyal support despite not having a history with the years of top flight football like Coventry.
Coventry sound like a rotten club and maybe they will go the way of Stockport or Darlington, seems like Wasps own the stadium and could do without the football.
There seem to be a large number of former league clubs who drop out of the league and find it hard to get back up,some like Southport probably never will and I think that Coventry might be another one.

The last time we beat Cov away in the league was in 1928!
Can anyone can remember that?!

It was bitterly cold and Gilbert Hincherley's winning goal skidded on the ice past their custodian who lost his flat cap in the process. They were frightfully unfortunate in their sky-blue jerseys that day, Rex.

They were frightfully unfortunate in their sky-blue jerseys that day, Rex. It was my first away game. Coventry played in blue and white stripes. Proof that Dido is making it up...In November 1961, after retiring as a player aged 33, Jimmy Hill became manager of Coventry City. His time at Coventry was marked by great changes to the club, nicknamed "The Sky Blue Revolution". He changed the home kit's colours to sky blue, coining the nickname "The Sky Blues". He also penned the club song "The Sky Blue Song"...

This can be identified as the moment Marketing/Franchising/Branding took over football. Yours Wendy Redredrobin.

Oh hell, I hate it when Rovers are favourites to win! And usually clubs who gte relegated manage to prolong the agony for a week or two......
Agree with the coments about poor governance in football though, The English game could learn a lot from Germany in this respect.

I placed a $50 bet with a mate of mine before the season started. He's a Coventry City fan and the money goes to whoever's team finishes highest in League 1 this season. Never thought it would be such an easy bet!

Coventry 2-0 up at HT tonight (Tue). Won 2-1. Other games around us involved a couple of clubs playing games in hand No change in Rovers' position - 8th, 3 points off 6th (Sarfend) who have a game in hand, and in between are Millwall with 2 games in hand over us.

And as a result we won't be sending Coventry down on Saturday. Quite a relief as other than City, I wouldn't want to send anyone down. However, there is one set of north east fans that would be happy with a City and Coventry double relegation: Why is it no surprise that City would be so willing to cheat
