We have the grafters we need goalscorers James is useless at that 10 + games without a goal and counting a replacement for Taylor do me a favour although their strike rates are probably quite similar at the moment. Taylor has had less influence on the team. I was honestly impressed with LJ against Saafend. DC always knew he wasn't the finished article.

I admire the optimism on here but he's scored 3 goals in his last 97 appearances. 1 goal in the last 63. 0 goals in the last 29.

I wouldn't expect immediate results if I joined a new company tomorrow. Your ability to succeed is heavily linked on your awareness of the skills and deficiencies of others when working in a team - that's probably why a lot of strikers need time to adjust their game to the team and vice versa.

Luke james is very much a dc type of player and i reckon he would sign him from peterborough if he can get him on a free transfer. His goal record is very poor and i would love to see him get 4 or 5 before the end of the season though the stats dont favour that happening. Some people have suggested we play bodin upfront but hes so dangerous 30 yards out and facing goal that i would prefer him left where he is but i dont think its a totally stupid idea to play him as a striker.

He couldn't even score against the team that has conceded the most goals in division one put bodin in his position and James in bodins position it's are only hope should I go Saturday in the hope of a response to tonight's result would cost me £50 - £60 or listen on radio Bristol for the price of 3 or 4 tinnies £15 ! What?

The real argument here is whether there is a 20 a season striker in James or 10 a season striker or he's not got what is required to be a striker in L1.
On another thread DC is supposed to look for fitness, desire and ability, James certainly has the first two, but the third, as a goalscorer, is not evident in James. Personally I would make all three attributes 1=, but it's easier to build up fitness and desire than ability.
At the start of the season we did not have a good keeper and at the end we do not have a good striker, that has cost us a PO spot (if that was ever an ambition.)

Coming up to a year ....9 April 2016 since his last goal he scored for Peterborough against Morecambe.
His previous one to that over two years ago ....14 March 2015 again Posh goal v Doncaster Rovers
The other myth about Matty Taylor needs correcting...he took until his eighth start to score his first goal for Rovers 16 Sept 2014 Nuneaton.

I like Luke James. Time will tell whether he has the ability to convert his undoubted effort and desire into goals for us, in League One.
The goal tally so far of, umm, zero is a burden for him; but I think Darrell will give him the minutes he needs to be given a decent chance.
So far, he's played only 722 minutes for us in League games. That's the equivalent of only eight full matches.
If he's given a run of games now, I wouldn't back against him finishing with an average of 1 goal in every 360 minutes of game-time for this season.

I feel like James has something - his movement is good and he looks confident and composed with the ball at his feet. But right now he's just getting bullied by the defenders he's up against. You would never expect someone like that to be a beast or much of a backs to goal player but you have to be strong enough to get into (and hold) promising positions and contribute to the build up. Right now he's just being bundled off the ball and blocked off all the time and that's restricting his sights at goal. I also think he would be better served playing a bit deeper so he could pick the ball going forward more often - in other words drag him away from the defenders who are currently dominating him.

It's a shame the obvious needs pointing out to some on here. There is a slight difference between the sides Taylor struggled to score against & the calibre of defenders James is currently up against right now. No one deserves a goal more than him, hopefully he bags his first tomorrow.

I like the look of Luke James too. So many of our strikers were slow starters, Taylor, Lambert, Ellington for example.Lets not criticise Luke for not setting the worl alight immediately.

Sorry, whilst he works hard, and had a couple of assists, I just can't see him being the answer. The players and DC obviously like him so I suppose in trainng he must really do the business and just needs to score. However, I wild be happy to be proven wrong.

Last penalty miss 14 Feb 2015 at Grimsby Town...a certain Matty Taylor struck the post from 12 yards but we won 1-0 Tom Lockyer scored the winner. Look what happened to Taylor after that ! But the myth of a slow goalscoring start of Taylor is a myth he scored in his eighth match for Rovers.

Agreed 7 league starts and eleven as sub plus has made 4 cup starts and one as sub. Started at Chelsea and looked pretty good to be fair but started against Yeovil and Portsmouth and Barrow FA Cup and looked frankly very poor.
