I think the plan with rotating the pitch was for a 17k or 17.5k capacity but chances are that it's now expired given how soon the UWE planning elapses.

The weekend before last there was an interview with SH, in the Sunday Independent, which contained many questions about the progress of the UWE Stadium. I found it interesting that the interview ended with SH pointing out that no one appeared to be posing these questions to the vendor.
So, at the very least, it's good that questions are finally being asked of them.

Yeah, I think it was around 18K with the rotated pitch. Without the student accomodation, it may be possible to increase the capacity to 20K perhaps. I can't see it being any higher than than, and that won't be enough for Wael's plans I would imagine. It is a possible plan B though. There are lots of benefits to staying put...

Assuming the UWE does not happen (I still think it will)... If we are funding the stadium build without any enabling feature (ie the student accomodation) at the UWE, why not just simply build a new stadium on the Mem site, similar to the last plans but minus the student flats? We know a stadium (just about) fits on the site, it got planning permission before and without the students it would be a much simpler application. The local residents were crying out for the site to remain for sports use, so it's a win win :-) Problem with re-developing the Mem is where are the Al-Q's going to get the £xm to pay off NH & co if they don't eventually sell the Mem as development land? I have no idea what is owed the previous board, I assumed that everything was paid off.
