He was a fantastic signing and for 2 and a half seasons a top player for us,arguably our best player. He did what any one of us would have done in his shoes, signed for a team in a much higher standard of football for at least double his salary. I cant hope that it goes well for him because i always want city to lose but i dont buy into all this hysterical hatred rubbish, its only football after all. THANKS MATTY

Could the 8- page Matty Taylor thread not accommodate this insight?

Could the 8- page Matty Taylor thread not accommodate this insight? Its mostly just slagging him off so i wanted to put my own slant on the situation. Do you decide who creates a thread?

If I were a Notts County player and Notts Forest offered to double my salary of course I'd consider it, despite the rivalry between supporters. However, he has to accept he'll be forever labelled a judas, plus he'll have to deal with the inevitable disappointment and lack of culture in the s**tpit.

The problem is, I'm sure Judas done some good stuff before what made him a bit infamous - if you believe that sort of stuff - unfortunately for him, it's not what he's best remembered for.
When sh*tsnake is on loan to 3rd division club next season, returns to Mem, I wonder how many will remember he was great for us before his transfer?

This whole response to one player leaving, who had made it clear he wanted to and unlike Jason Roberts and Jamie Cureton carried on playing and scoring in the interim, is completely OTT and becoming pathetic. Give it a rest for gods sake

I love this. A great idea for a novel/play/film. Has this been done already? Oh, Iscariot, where did it all go so wrong?

I agreed with your opening thread, yes thank you MT. if we knew two and a half years ago what we know now we would have bitten our arms off for it and probably just shrugged off the last episode last Tuesday. But if you think Trevor Morgan at the end of his career when they were in a league below, Clarkson who wasn't very good and was wanted by no one, Marcus Stewart at the end of his career and Rovers werent involved so they had no say in that, Steve P near the end of his career and we saw how that went, Trevor J had been released by City I think so wasn't wanted, are anything near this then I think, respectfully, you have really not judged the situation. The other situations do not include a player on a contract albeit with a release clause, at the top of his game, at the pinnacle of his career going to the other side and leaving for BRFC a sense of injustice. But anyway it's over and thanks MT let's move on and yes it could have beeen on the other thread but everyone has a right to start a thread. UTG!

None of us begrudge any player moving to a higher division for a significantly improved salary. Yet the purposeful way 1982 ltd, his agent and Taylor himself exploited rovers via his contractual situation in addition to the absence of football club etiquette means all involved qualifies for perennial criticism. The fact the s**t were involved and the motive for the transfer was more about the impact on rovers rather than on city needing or wanting Taylor himself makes this whole event great tinder fuel for our clubs rivalry. I like that since it reminds me that I do rationally and irrationally hate 1982 for so many reasons, and for reasons that don't yet exist. I hope we see judas and his car salesman bouffan at the mem next season.

I don't want to be the forum police, and people can talk about what they like, but for your own peace of mind:
Does it really matter that much that it needs a philosophical reinterpretation? Aren't there other things to think about? You needn't (but could) engage with something that matters, but maybe there's a nice video of a cat doing something amusing that you could watch to take your mind off it. Isn't it (long since) time to move on?

Isn't it (long since) time to move on? I'm rather enjoying this childish mud throwing. It's a kind of therapy akin to catching a tennis ball and shouting 'I'm Confident..I'm Confident'. Sometimes the banal can be quite a positive experience but there is a time limit before it becomes a bit weird (except for the permanency of Judas as MT's new nickname).

I don't want to be the forum police... I didn't really get this one at all last week. But now, only days later, I look on the site for our clubs new proper training facility, and remember the worst days of Higgs and Sainsburys, and I get it now, and I just don't care about Taylor. He was something, now he's something else, I'm not impressed by it, but you're right, there are better things for Gasheads to focus on. Bye then, Taylor; you're just our past now. Let's enjoy the third division you left us in, to which you may be returning. It's starkly preferable to the conference we found you in. I hope you get paid well but score no BC82 goals at all. Let's see how this James fellow can play alongside Harrison.
