Roos error prone fail colkett lightweight, couple of good games fail boateng skillful but very lazy and didnt defend fail luke james honest trier fail connor roberts fail clarke-salter easily bullied lightweight, couple of very good games lumley young kid, very few games under his belt, possibly going to play behind one of the weakest defences in league 1 When will dc and the board wake up about loan signings, especially young kids? im more than a little concerned at our transfer policy and if we are going to have a clear out at the end of the season ive got severe doubts that we will bring better players in based on what ive seen this season. hope im very wide of the mark but what the hell is going on?

I'm not very up on player stats etc., but I'm pretty sure Boateng didn't play all that often, so I am intrigued to know how you have managed to condemn him as 'very lazy'?

Also, with the exception of Connor Roberts, all of those loanees were quite interesting - they brought something different. That's good

There is an element of truth & reality in what he says - all seemed decent signings at the time but failed to reach the expected levels.
I too found Boateng in particular a strange one. Great previous season with Plymouth but pretty much a luxury player who despite his size & power rarely looked to dominate a game and seemed to let attacks breeze past him at ease.
Hope we can do better starting with Joe Lumley.

I love this stuff. Wasn't it just a couple of months ago that the chelsea and palace loanees were gods gift and people were stamping their feet on here saying they should be walk-up starts for every game.
Now they are utter s**te and a waste of our time and money.

That's good Unfortunately acquiring loanees that are quite interesting doesent really cut the mustard, with a bit of sensible investment I think we have every chance of carrying on the momentum of the last two seasons and getting in the play offs.

DC said a couple of weeks ago that we would prefer permanent signings, and will only go down the loan route if he doesn't get his first choices. GK is a big position to fill and I would rather he do it properly when he does. DC is likely happy to consolidate this year rather than chase a promotion that could derail everything. Would have rather had an experienced GK come in on loan, but given how difficult it is to get your top targets in January, I'm not bothered.
Not sure why people get so worked up and can't just enjoy the ride. Is two promotions in three years not enough for you? Rome wasn't built in a day.

Spot on Centenary. 2 in 2 and currently mid table. What is there not to like? I know what the OP means but he's a bit unfair on the loanees esp Salter-Clarke, poor guys injured and he has played well and would have played a lot more. UTG!

Rome wasn't built in a day. But then, Darrell wasn't on that particular job. (C) B Clough.

if by 'cutting the mustard' you mean winning games, then I agree - but its a different measure. But providing something different gives the manager options and demonstrates a breadth of vision, as well as being good for spectators I think

Its the manager and boards job to recruit players and despite darrell clarkes previous good record on signings they have been very very poor this season.

But thats history now isnt it? Very f******g recent history! Any danger you might see how the lad plays before deciding he's a write off? Im commenting on the general strategy of signing young players on loan and also how poor our recruitment has been this season. Surely is reasonable to be critical of the clubs recruitment, ultimately the managers responsibility if as a supporter your unhappy with it? We could just say "in dc and wael we trust" i suppose ?
