It could well be Sainsbury's are now nervous about handing over £30m to us given there is a good chance we won't be able to complete the UWE and so leave the Mem, so allowing them to build?
Perhaps we should start bombarding the official twitter account with tweets seeking an update?

Surely we can get the main aspects built to use it

No one knows what is happening now since the Carstairs challenge was rejected. Are we waiting for the appeal to be thrown out before it's all systems go? Are we still in final contractual negotiations with Sainsbury's dotting i's and crossing t's? How long is this likely to take? Do we have an estimated timescale?
No, no. All none of this, just a vague statement about further updates over the summer and then a wall of silence. That is worrying. That is how rumours start and if it is still all systems go then it is being handled shockingly badly.
I don't have any insider information, I don't know anyone in planning department or from Sainsbury's but, from my experience of the club and how it operates, I believe that the thing is very likely dead as a doornail.

Yep,after a few years you get to spot the signs that the board has bad news, which will be made public as late as possible to try and deflect blame away from the polit buro. This might not be the case, but the signs are beginning to show.

So you want the board to give you an update, just suppose they said we have nothing to report but negotiations are on going, what would you say then, damned if they do damned if they dont What negotiations. Everything is sorted isn't it? Are we not just waiting for a rubber stamp re the English heritage thing.
The club rubbishing rumours on the internet (that they don't like) and confirming everything was set for when the English Heritage thing is signed off would be great wouldn't it?
Perhaps the board are in negotiations with the new owners of the club

Some of the analysis of Tesco's poor results yesterday makes interesting (and worrying) reading. In an article in today's Times, the boss of Tesco is reported as expressing regret at. "Taking time to halt expansion of its superstore network". The piece goes on to explain how shopping habits are changing to shopping on line and then topping up with visits to smaller local stores. I also think the point raised by someone else, that Sainsburys need to be confident Rovers can complete the project and vacate the Mem to allow them to build is relevant and I am now readying myself for bad news.

On the unofficial forum toteend posted that things were very close to being signed off with Ssinsburys.
I believe this is much closer to the truth than the knicker wetting hysteria that this thread is full of. But the panicking is completely understandable because of a complete lack of communication from Higgs. The article in the Sunday independent that slammed the club for this lack of communication is bang on the money.
Unlike many I had some sympathy for The BoD when we were relegated thinking they were hurting as much as us, but the way they have communicated with the loyal fan base since at a time when we need strong leadership has been contemptible..

It's all about communication at the end of the day. Gasheads have been used to bad news for years. It's nothing new. All we want is a stable communication line.
It really is not that much to ask for. If bad news (or good news!) comes through then we gas heads will deal with it. Like we always have done.

This might not be the case, but the signs are beginning to show. Exactly, this is looking like Opal all over again. The difference with that was that we were supposed to be playing at Whaddon Road three months later and the "last game at the Mem" forced their hand. Though they didn't come clean, they dreamt up with this "high profile friendly" nonsense because people were going to rip the stadium apart taking home souveniers. In the end it was a whistle blower who blew the lid off of the whole thing, the board were quite happy to let people trek all the way to Cheltenham to pick out their seats in the full knowledge that the thing was dead.
If anyone want's to write a sitcom about a football club, there is plenty of material for episode one right there.
There not the same time-pressure with UWE, we have missed the deadline for the 2015 season so they have the luxury of a bit of time to think up a plan. Or panic. My guess is that there will be an announcement of a delay of several months, possibly a year, at some point over the next few weeks. How Higgs squares this with the playing side not being connected to the stadium will be interesting, although contradicting himself shouldn't be a problem, he's had enough practice. He may choose the say something along the lines of we are going to miss the start of the season so there is no point in doing anything for 12 months. (Hey, there you go Nick, use that one! )
None of this avoids the inevitable bombshell, but the more successful season we have next year, the less destructive that bombshell will be.

Perfectly conceivable. I can see we might have another disaster season and get relegated again. Then the wheels will clearly be seen to fall off and it might all fall apart. An AFC Brisitol Rovers might start up,but I think we'll be more Third Lanark than Wombles.

Do people want continuous updates saying negotiations are still ongoing??? Everytime something has been signed off we have been told. We have been told when there is new news we will here it. If Higgs said we are hoping to get it tied up by Friday week and it didn't happen by then people would be calling him a liar and saying why give us information if its not 100%.
We all want news, but if there is nothing new to tell it's pointless giving an update.

I thought everything was sorted and we are awaiting the rubber stamp from the English heritage thing.

I have picked up some crisps, some bread, a packet of clementines, some blackcurrant squash, some tuna, 2 bottles of mayonnaise, 2 packs of salad that will rot in the bottom of my fridge, World Soccer's World Cup Preview edition, a copy of Pans Labryinth that was on special offer and two rather dodgy looking Easter Eggs that have been reduced to clear. I thank everyone for their concern. Any news on those packets of beef jerky they hang on the beer aisle? On a serious note I've saw them in the booze aisle, what does that beef jerky taste like,I don't know so I buy the big packs of pork scratchings.

Just heard that there is a huge rumour circulating that Sainsbury's are going to announce that they will not be building a supermarket at the Memorial Stadium. If this is true, then were would this leave Bristol Rovers as a football club? THE UWE Stadium project would also be dead and buried

The respected poster on OTIB (I know, a respected City fan...) who usually gets the stadium stuff right has suggested that there will be an update in the next 48 hours (Friday basically). If I'm correct, he seems to think it will be a positive update from Rovers' point of view.
Not counting any chickens at the moment though. Some communication will be welcome, the rumours are all over the place at the moment.

If this is true, then were would this leave Bristol Rovers as a football club? THE UWE Stadium project would also be dead and buried Surely there are three options; Firstly they pay us and build a supermarket as per the deal, Secondly they buy the land, pay us and don't build a supermarket (either immediately or ever) Thirdly that they pull out all together? Surely as agreements have been signed if they pull out then there will be some form of compo? I think this should either leave us with a new stadium or some cash...

"Kid in the Riot." He's the City fan who seems to be in the know and often got stuff correct.
Well,he is strongly suggesting the UWE-Sainsbury project has at least stalled and he'll be shocked if anything happens this year.
He says there will be an update (from who exactly I don't know,i suspect he means from him) in a couple of days.
