Apologies if this has been discussed already but who do we feel isn't up to League One level at this stage and maybe should be sold/loaned out in January?

I see your point regarding our league position and fair play but just wandered where are weak links were and where we might need to strengthen in the 2nd part of the season.

Manager Darrell Clarke this morning revealed that he has been given the green light to strengthen his Bristol Rovers squad during the January transfer window.
Clarke relied on loan signings and free agents when recruiting seven players over the summer, but could be in the market for as many as two or three permanents arrivals when the window opens for business on January 1.
He said: "I have got the green light to go and improve in the areas we need to improve in. The players are on their toes because they know they have a big five weeks before the transfer window opens.
We are up against some big teams with the majority of a squad that has come with us from the Conference and we have done remarkable well over the last two seasons on squad that has cost us £50,000.
"But I can't afford to be sentimental. The lads have to keep improving because the standards are set high here and in the last couple of games we have dipped below them standards.
"I know where we need strengthening and those positions will be strengthened in January. I have three-year project to get this club into the Championship. That's me being realistic to where we are at.
"We are competing against football clubs who have playing budgets that are treble and, in some cases, quadruple to where we are at the minute, but we have the potential to increase that and to move it forward.
"You have to make changes in every transfer window if you want to move things forward. The players have to know that because you can't have people operating in a comfort zone."

Based on recent weeks, we clearly need a new goalkeeper, a better right back, two (or is it three?) centre backs, competition for Lee Brown, some decent wingers, some dominant midfielders, a targetman, a fox in the box,and a faster, stronger version of Matty Taylor that never misses.

Transfer business will be influenced by Matty staying or leaving

Transfer business will be influenced by Matty staying or leaving I hope the planing is realistic and based on MT leading. Unlike when Lambert left and pt/LL hadn't planned for what everyone else could see was coming. Saying the above I'll be more than happy if that planning is wasted and he stays

3 permanent signings & 2 loan signings would show fantastic ambition from the owners to build on the good start to the season. Work will have to be done to move 3 or 4 players off the wage bill, and i'd be surprised if Connor Roberts & Boateng extended there loans, although IMO Roberts deserves a longer run in the side.

It's madness to suggest we're supposed to be so desperate for reinforcements. Our team's recent success is based purely on team spirit, leadership across the zones and tactical awareness, and that doesn't come in a single month.
That being said, I wouldn't mind a new CB (to add some quality to our defence, since we definitely suffer when one of our sure-starters is out) and a creative midfielder (because Lines is too inconsistent IMO and would offer much more with a replacement breathing down his neck). MAYBE a GK, but it's VERY easy to be falsely impressed by new goalkeepers as we've learned over the years.

In fact all succesful clubs strengthen to move forward, think of the Liverpool squads in the 70s and 80s,they were winning trophies yet they still continually brought new better players in. A problem is that Rovers have a large squad some of whom are not up to this level of football, whilst they are taking up the wage budget can any better players be brought in ?

I'm not saying DC suggested it. I'm saying some people here act like we need 20 new players and a complete squad overhaul when we actually need exactly what DC thinks we need, which is a couple or three new players to add quality and depth to our squad.

Fair enough, it will be interesting to see which positions DC feel need strengthening, I am sure most people have their own opinions. I certainly dont want to see new faces just for the sake of change, either better than the players they replace or its not worth doing. I just dont see any money being available to go out and buy better quality players,I hope that I am wrong.

Not sure who DC might want to sign,i'll happly leave that to him. On those who may be loaned out, well Cheltenham Town, led by Gary Johnson of course may be very happy to take a couple or so from us.

Wasn't one of the first 3 people employed by Wael a 'Head of player recruitment' some bloke who had been working in Germany?
I would hope that the manager had available options in front of him for every position.

I would imagine that players like Lawrence.mansell.mildenhall.moore. could be on the way out and the loaners who are only here till Jan would be sent back.not 100% sure but think they are James.roberts.boateng and perhaps roos not certain if he is or should be included.may even see Montana and Harrison go as well
