Immaterial as to how many goals more we have scored.if we cannot keep clean sheets it means we have to score at least two goals per game minimum to win Its immeterial if we keep scoring more than the opposition more often than not Not conceeding would help, but we have managed okay so far How can that be the case Simon when we have a goal difference of zero

Nothing to do with doomsday or anything like it.i was pointing out the fact that if we keep conceding goals then the pressure on the strikers to score at least two goals a game is going to increase and lead to them making the wrong decisions because the defence is found wanting.as shankly once said and it has been repeated by numerous managers if the opposition don't score we want lose and can always sneak a goal Here we go again.its the same every season the knowledgeable ones pick on the defence and no matter what they do they're rubbished.so the defence are this year's whipping boys. But I am not singling out individual players just making the obvious statement that we are conceding too many goals and at the end of the day defenders are there to defend

Missed England U20 Captain Jake Clarke Salter today Whilst I agree - were you actually there? Or are you commenting on Radio Bristol Commentary? Generally speaking I find there is better value listening to people who actually attend games. Similarly the OP starts a critical thread on Rovers based on watching 2 minute of Sky highlights. I was not there decided to boycott this one for two reasons ...was reffing an academy match in the morning and attending my grandsons birthday party in the afternoon. However I listened to one who attended the Den whose opinions I respect but my comment about Clarke Salter is based on what I have seen in games he has played for us. We need to use him as often as we can because he is unlikely to return next season. He clearly has a big future in the game.

See DC is in the paper today saying we haven't clicked at the back yet. Glad he doesn't come on here saying that or he'd get slaughtered

Dear Kegan Degg, The bottom team in div 1 has conceded fewer goals than the gas that's a damming stat for any manager to stomach considering all the training ground practice that must take place midweek we are an attacking side granted but the defence needs to be addressed big time you cannot always outscore your opponent's Clarke never seems to address this our defence is average at best sort it out. Some of this team were promoted from non-league just eighteen months ago. Take a breath... Just watched highlights of today's game couldn't afford £100 + to be there 4 pathetic easy sad give away goals forget 10 men we have been giving away goals like this all season it makes me so fin angry. ... and punctuate. Yours sincerely, A duck.

Very rare that I'm ever worried about going 1-0 down these days. We're easily one of the fittest teams of the league and more often than not, will always score.

Cant help but think that a settled defence may help, we let in early goals because the "new" lineup every game takes time to settle.
Not a critism, more an observation.

Tricky when you've got such good competition for places. Which one do you want to be an unused sub every game - Hartley or Clarke-Salter?

It is my belief, based on no knowledge nor evidence whatsoever, that in the second half of the season, the manager will select an inreasingly more (although not altogether) settled lineup at the back. This manager clearly likes to experiment, adjust, and give squad members a number of chances to establish themselves. Later in the season, he may choose to reward good performances with more consistent selection.
Conservative management of goal difference is the only reason to preserve one or two goal deficits. But who wants to watch that? It's rather more exciting to believe in the team's capacity to overturn any deficit, and to chase these games.
Many times have we come back from a goal or more behind to get a result. Once in a while, it risks a heavy defeat. But with time to raise their game to the demands of this division, the second half of the season could be very promising.
