Roos has been solid for us thus far, more than happy. Distribution and decision making superb. A rare error for the first, but no real surprise given that was the 5th unchallenged shot on goal he faced in the first 15mins. No protection from midfield or defence whatsoever. The lads decent. Would very much like his signature full time.

Nothing to do with our result last night, which was definitely a point stolen, but I felt really depressed being there. 1/ 35 seater stadium only quarter full. 2/ in effect a new club - lovely ground but no heritage. 3/ no soul not in the fans, the building or the club. 4/ it feels like a very expensive experiment that has gone horribly wrong.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me but I felt much happier meeting sides with heart and soul that might have been as unfortunate as us at the time; Aldershot, Wrexham, Macclesfield etc. the football may have lacked something but there was heritage, a shared bond, pride and most of all, soul. If MK dons keep playing in front of the sort of crowds they had last night they won't be around long and sadly, no one will care.

Said it myself, all glitz & glamour but still not a very good place to watch a competitive game of football (last night anyway)

I don't expect anyone to agree with me Fine. But I think that loads of us do agree with you absolutely. When I followed BRFC around the country I was fascinated by the unique stadia, atmospheres, history, colours, songs, flags, and traditions of some of our opponents. I can't imagine ever having any similar interest attending the home of MK Cons.

Biased and flippant (but surprisingly stone-cold sober) player ratings as follows: Roos: 3. Comedy keeper in the 1st half. This clown stuff is getting out of hand. Browner: 4. I think I can categorically say that is the worst I have ever seen him play. At fault for 2nd (out jumped by a dwarf) and 3rd poor defending. Lockyer: 5 Wobbly 1st half. Better 2nd. Clarke-Salter: 6. Looked lost 1st half. Much better 2nd and sublime movement to provide our second goal. Roberts: 4. Pants. O. Clarke: 3. Sorry. Just has never been good enough. Lines: 6. Some good driving runs. Sadly most of which ended up on the wing. Sinclair: 6. Pirate Stu put in a battling display when we looked like getting hopelessly over-run in the 1st half. Bodin 3: What have you done with Billy? Are you his hopelessly inadequate twin brother. Awful. Taylor: 8. Off the pace and badly out of position 1st half. 2nd half 3 goals. Nuff said. Harrison: 6. Worked hard with little reward. Seemed determined to earn a second yellow and DC has no choice but to sub him. Colkett: 7. Quality. Gave us shape. Flick on that led to our second was Arsenelesque. Monty: 7. Better going forward than O. Clarke. No sh*t. Gaffney: 7. Good energy. Much better with ball played to his feet. Gaffney no good at hoofball. DC: He is either a tactical genius, or hasn't got a clue what his starting XI should be and what formation to play. Discuss. MK Dons Arena: 2. Comfy seat, no bar, no atmosphere. Please please please Mr Al-Qadi - do not build a stadium like this. Well I guess we all have our views on new stadiums but I liked the MK Dons stadium layout and I'm not sure which stadium you were at but there was definitely at least one bar as I was stood in it for at least 20 minutes plus other refreshment outlets. Loved the concourse area and the spaciousness of it. Lack of atmosphere was true but when the stadium is only a quarter full and the home fans require a drum then that's hardly surprising. I thought when we eventually found our voices we made a decent enough noise and created an atmosphere of our own and DC commented on our support in his interview. So yes please Mr President would love an MK Dons type stadium, if from the little we know about what they are looking to develop then something similar with shop outlets could be in their thinking.

Informed and considered points there from Bridgers, but any BRFC home must surely be unique. And called something other than Stadium.

MK Dons stadium. Sign posted off of the M1 but then signposts go missing for about 25 roundabouts. Luckily someone in the car had google maps and saved the day. Awful traffic around a stadium that is built in a huge retail park with one road in and out. Brainless planning. Last time I went to the soulless bowl it was in the middle of a field. Managed to park - but only because a Gashead in front of me was arguing the toss over the £7 to park - to the point where the kid fleecing the money said - "I'm going to get my manager". So we sneaked in for free. Into the ground with 2 minutes before kick-off so a bit rushed. Asked if there was anywhere to get a beer at half-time and was told "no bar available for away support". Apparently a brain-dead steward then. So you can only post from what you experience. I was asked to 'sit down' a couple of times when we looked like actually getting a move going. All-seater grounds kill atmosphere. Name me ONE - just ONE new all-seater ground where the real fans prefer it to their old. I read a BBC discussion on this topic and after much debate FC Fylde was the only 'winner'. I do not want to go to football in this sterile environment. We made the only noise - because we are the Gas and travel in good numbers. Yes - bigger concourse, better toilet facilities - great. But overall - a sh*t match day experience from my perspective. Ask any Wet Spam fan. Be very careful what you wish for.

Ask any Wet Spam fan. Be very careful what you wish for. You are dead right you can only post from what you experience and I agree the atmosphere could have been a lot better but that wasn't exactly the fault of the stadium was it. I got there early, found the refreshments had a good old chat with other friends and fans, stood up the whole game sang my heart out, yelled, chanted, swore repeatedly and no one batted an eyelid around me, sometimes an atmosphere is what you make it. On the point of real fans prefering their new ground to their old one, I don't think you'll find to many Brighton fans wanting go back to the Withdean or Goldstone grounds, Swansea fans wanting to go back to the Vetch, Hull fans wanting to go back to Boothferry Park to name but three but I understand the principle of what you are saying. I could even mention Eastville when it was well attended was a fantastic place to be but in the latter years was like a morgue. So yes you are right we should be careful what we wish for but lets not close our minds to the potential there could be, not all old grounds were good. UTG

I'm listening, particularly agree with your last sentence. Just a word of warning should you venture to the Emirates / Olympic Park etc etc. You insist on standing up and swearing (naughty naughty boy) - you will get ejected. Reminds me of a trip to Arsenal / Sunderland (first game of the season about 5 years ago). Kieran Richardson went in studs up early on. I involuntarily jump up out my seat with a "f*ck off Richardson" - at which point I'm glared at by about 20 people and a steward reminds me if I do it again I'll be out. Welcome to the sterile, sanitised and thoroughly tedious world of corporate football. You're welcome to it. Not been to the Vetch or Boothferry Park so can't comment. I bet you real Brighton fans prefer the Goldstone Ground. I'll do some digging and report back. UTG!

Lee Brown has been poor all season, compared to the previous campaign, coincidental our most under performing player is the only one we would be unable to drop?

I wouldn't say all season, he's just had more bad games than we're used too. It's his first season playing this level and I think he'll grow into it, it's just a big step. He has enough credit accrued to see him through for a while. He could do with a bit more in the way of protection as well.

Were you in the Sunderland end? Nope - my wife is a gooner and we were in the East Stand. The thing is - I think by shouting - I may have woken a few of them up... The Emirates is a stunning piece of architecture. The facilities are top class. It also has zero atmosphere, is sterile and boring. I would hand on my heart rather go to Dagenham & Redbridge. Find me a gooner who prefers the Emirates to Highbury. Though to be fair I think Stan "wealth now at $8billion" Kroenke might be a fan.

I think eppinggas makes a valid point about the absence of atmosphere in many new stadia. But, is it all down to the stadia and their architecture? Or is it anything to do with the gentrification of some clubs: was the "Highbury Library" just a convenient rhyme?. Is the loss of atmosphere and culture inevitable on moving to a new stadium? Or can supporters influence the organisation to help ensure the best of the old world can migrate into the new? From another thread, "Cast In Stone" wrote: "Their [guess who?] home receipts must dwarf ours and at £34 for a walk up to sit behind the goal I expect their receipts are treble ours. We desperately need that new ground if we are going to compete on the pitch with our old rivals". Link

Gone now, some kind of landscaped 'open space' has replaced it. Getting in and out was terrifying, once in, it was a fantastic old stadium, huge away terrace with a bizarre food outlet where you couldn't see directly into the booth, the counter had a grille so the food/drink was passed around a slalom, all you saw was the stuff appear and a hand grab the money, bit like one of those late night liquor outlets in USA. Far end of the ground developed with the money they made when they got into Div 1 many years back, then the money ran out, the rest of the ground similar to Eastville, great old ground, shame their fans still think it's 1974 and want to fight everybody.
