.......or the Arsenal 3rd round cup game some years before that. Just recall it being manic in and around the ground. Mind you we lost that one 3 0 if I recall properly.

To answer the title....
To get out alive?!
Although I'm sure it's different these days. When I was a kid, chelski were just a normal / poor first div (occasionally 2bd div) club with violent reputation. It's good to play them for younger generation, and they are a top side now, but this is our cup final and hope we make the most of it..

Yes we did - Charlie Nicholas in his pomp Way before Charlie Nicholas! The 3 - 0 game was in the mid-60s when Arsenal fans climbed on the Tote End roof and unfurled a North Bank banner. Ian Ure was the Arsenal striker back then!

not impossible to get a result there, there hardly going to be 100% fired up, but we will be and with no pressure, nice to see how good we really are. will be more than 4k of us, im in the chelsea end with a friend, as are quite a few more.

these games are still exiting for a small clubs supporters and players despite being devalued by big clubs fielding weaker than full strength teams. i dont expect us to win by im hoping somehow we can pull off a shock.

Yes we did - Charlie Nicholas in his pomp League cup 84/5 second round 1-0 with quarter of an hour to go. McCaffery error opens floodgates and we lose 4-0. Second leg was 1-1. O'Leary, Jennings, Woodcock, Caton, Nicholas definitely featured during the games.

With the new manager still wanting to look at his squad, I feel Chelsea will field a fair side, but with some 'stars' sat on the bench just in case.

Yep. I'm sure you're right. Rovers are likely to be exiting. Hope the lads put up a good show on the way out, though.

Hall, Hillard, Alex Munroe at left back, Odfield, Davis, Mabbutt what a back 6 - around 1964/5 - little benches on the dog track behind the goal, massive 30,000 plus crowd.
