Having queued for over 2 hours at Kingswood, I'm now in the Mem queue and its touch and go. This is a monumental Feck up, totally misjudging the demand in Kingswood. Hope the club, given the new spirit of communication, comes out with a statement on this. ....but if they had sent too many to Kingswood & run out at the Mem - tricky one. No idea what demand will be but everyone knew higher demand would be at the Mem. It can't be easy & can't really be sorted until we stop selling paper tickets & get some kind of Membership scheme in place.

Just sell them through one place. Yes, or that. I assume they thought selling at Kingswood would help some fans, which it probably did. Every time we get a game like this, there are the same complaints, but if the club have more priority group holders than there are tickets, someone will always miss out. E.G.My 1883 club membership costs £1500, but won't get me a ticket, yet season ticket holders, who spend less than a third of that will get one , so there are all sorts of anomalies that will always lead to someone losing out. I have always thought if I REALLY wanted a ticket for a Rovers match, then I would find a way to get one.
Start practicing those geezer accents!
I just felt very sorry for the older people in the queue Rex. It wouldn't have harmed to start telling people they were down to 100 tickets or so eh ? The support has always been strong in Kingswood and I think that needs addressing is all.

Was more thinking about those who looked frail. There was a lovely old lady queuing I front of me who was getting her sons ticket. It would be good if we could show a little reverence for people like her. Just my opinion.

Assume we will need to wait for the new stadium before member cards and internet booking will resolve this problem. Pictures Ive seen today are reminiscent of the Cup ties of the 1970s Well... Notwithstanding they've got a lot of other stuff to sort out to put us on a professional basis, I don't see why this would need to wait. One of the complaints of the old guard is that we had about 10 years of things (marketing, ticketing, merchandise, you know, effective football club stuff) will magically transform in the new stadium, when they could readily apply in the existing set-up - they could even use 'now' as a test bed to get stuff in place ahead of the new stadium. Like I said, there's only so much that can happen at one time and I guess it's down to priorities, but that aside I can't see why they couldn't crack on with this. Even if it is prioritised, though, it can't be procured and commissioned overnight.

Ticketing is ok normally and you can phone and then pick up or they post. This is one of those times when a lot of clubs would be in trouble, I think lol

With the benefit of hindsight, if each person in the queue was given a numbered ticket/number written on hand to correspond with entitlement, then person with 750 would be the end, & any arrivals after that could go direct to the mem !!!
Just a thought.....

Just a thought..... I got mine about 1.30pm at The Mem having queued for about an hour and 45 mins. When I was near the front Ken Masters came out with a calculator asking people how many they were intending on buying so he could work out where the cut off point in the queue would be. Presumably the fact they lasted til 5pm-ish meant no-one that was at The Mem at that time was disapointed; but it's still laughable that this is happening at a professional football club in 2017 and the sort of s**t that will probably add another 10 pages to the 300 strong page thread on One Tw*t in Bristol. I'm not blaming the new guard, they can't change everything in a day; it was just complete and utter bulls**t/naivety from the old lot thinking a new stadium would solve everything. Saying that I hope the new lot are proactively looking at modernising aspects of the club like this, its not like we need bespoke software I'm sure there's a company that's providing database software for plenty of other clubs and if used correctly it would probably pay for itself by cleverly using the information we'll have on fairweather fans to devise marketing strategies that will make them come more often.

Suspect the queues for the Reading cup tie will be slightly smaller and will not require a voucher at £5 a bargain

Why is it laughable? What would you prefer? I assume you mean go for online ticketing only, the type of system where secondary ticketing sites snap up all the tickets and then resell to fans at inflated prices? These games come along once in a blue moon for Rovers at their current level, and I would bet my bottom dollar, that most die hards still get a ticket. For the life of me I cannot see much wrong with how the club has sold the tickets today.

I don't think it would be groundbreaking to have an online ticketing system whereby priority members can buy with a unique and verified ID number (so no spammers buying s**tloads to sell on at inflated prices). There was no need for 100s of Gasheads to have spent several hours of their lives at The Mem/Kingswood today. By the way in the event any of the shop staff are reading this I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude for all their hardwork today.

Maybe not, and TBH I have no idea if that is a large cost or not, but is it really a priority at the moment? How many times in the past 10 years would a system like that have been beneficial? Today possibly, Forest Green in the play offs, Lincoln in the play offs, maybe a couple more, but I am struggling to think of them.

Maybe not at the moment mate, I'm sure Wael and Steve Hamer have a hell of a lot on their plate, but it's surely something we need to be looking at. The fact is a lot of people like me and you accept things like this because we've never known anything different from Rovers; but if we're looking to move into a bigger stadium and expand our fanbase to compete with that vile lot down the road we need more modern systems that a jeriatric with a calculator telling people whether they need to bother spending 2+ hours on a working day queuing for tickets.

Care to explain why Reading don't have it listed as a fixture?
You're culpable
