After more than three years writing articles free for the Post website I have finally decided to call it a day.
I'm only putting this on the forums to let people know as I realise there are a few who quite enjoyed reading my rants.
To be fair DC and the team have done so well they have virtually made moaning obsolete.
I am pretty sure I will have things to complain about in the future but with holding down a day job, trying to progress my career as a novelist and playing daddy day care to a 6-year-old something had to give.
As I have always stressed I am not employed by the Post and I didn't get paid for my columns.
I was also getting pretty fed up with taking it in the neck for things like the ridiculous overuse of pop-up ads/surveys on the site, which certainly contributed to the decision. I've made those in charge aware of my feelings in that regard, not that it is likely to make a blind bit of difference because these decrees come down from on high.
Looking forward to watching the Rovers this season and hopefully getting some good news about how the new board are going to progress matters off the field.
In the meantime, for those who did - thanks for reading!
Nick

Hi Nick
It occurs that I once moaned on here about the ads and pop-ups making me averse to going on their site to read your stuff, and ocasionally took issue with what you wrote: I think that was prefaced by something along the lines of 'you usually write good stuff but...' but then probably included adjectives like 'ridiculous' or 'nonsense'. Can I just redress the balance and comment on the rule rather than the rare exceptions that proved it: you (generally!) wrote good stuff in a very readable style - and if everyone always agreed with what you wrote, you would probably have been missing the brief, anyway. Sorry it took your standing-down to prompt that comment, rather than a quibble. They've been lucky to have you (particularly given their usual editorial expectations). Thanks, and good luck with the rest.

I like these considered articles, it often summarises a feeling that is presented on the forums albeit in a more fragmented manner. Best of luck!!

I'm sorry that you've stopped posting your articles, they were among some the best pieces written about Rovers in recent years.
But I'm pleased to see that you are carrying on writing. Good luck with it all.
And many thanks for some stimulating minutes reading your posts.

I wish more people would in some respects because at least it prompts a debate, which is better than sitting back and accepting everything that is fed to us! I must say I think Wael and Co have been a breath of fresh air. I am not saying they will solve all the club's problems but they seem honest and open which is all we ask, really

Just finished the first draft of the second book. It is about 40,000 words over what is required, though, so I've a bit of editing to do!!
