a joy to watch a player who loves to get on the ball, wonderful range of passing, fast athletic runner when bursting from midfield to attack, ball control to admire and a player working hard and reading the game defensively to negate his obvious weaknesses. i hope he keeps this up because this could be a career defining season for the bristol boy. off subject but i played against his dad who was a very cultured midfield player in the gloucester county league.

This is his level. Especially if he gets space to play like sunday

Port Vale fans up here rated him highly.Think his first game for us was on the rutted Halifax wastleland of a pitch.Must have wondered what he'd come to but two promotions later he would be my first name on the team sheet.

I am amazed he came back after that, and wonder what he thinks when he hears 'He's one of our own' belting out.

Some people still blame a 25 year old for the performance of a club that went through 35 players and 4 managers in a season. He was so bad that season, he was picked 47 times!

Good player, but I would like to see a few more drives from deep and shots. He has it in the locker but most of the time we have the centre circle player. Not a bad thing as such but it does often take away from the other parts of his game

I thought he was excellent on Sunday - demanding the ball at every opportunity and really running the game. His performance dipped a little after his mistake which led to an awfully rash challenge and him being booked but he was still very good.
He is clearly the most talented midfielder in the squad and I really hope he can add some goals to his game again.
All of this talk of his previous stay and the rights and wrongs should be forgotten now. It's gone. It happened. Onwards and upwards.

People seem to think of Linesy as an attacking midfielder who will get you bags of goals and assists, but barring a purple patch in the 2009/2010 season he's never been a goalscoring midfielder. Even then a lot of his goals were from direct free kicks, which are a fantastic weapon to have in your arsenal and it would be great if he could rediscover that, but they're not relevant to his general play.
Lines is the best technical player in the squad and as much as they have other great qualities he's surrounded by players like Ollie Clarke, Macca and Sinclair who aren't the best passers of the thing. This is where Lines excels because he constantly drops into pockets of space to ensure they've got an easy outlet. His deceptive pace from his driving runs are something he should do more of as it creates space for others as opposition players are drawn towards him. From the two games I've seen this season he's been stronger in the tackle than I've seen in previous years, this is something he needs to keep up because we conceded far too many goals last season from opposition players being allowed to travel miles with the ball without us laying a glove on them.
If he continues doing the above, rediscovers his form with the deadball and maybe hits a slightly higher success rate with his 'hollywood' balls there are few better midfielders in this league IMO.

He probably just thinks it's just a bunch of forum tosser who don't really represent the bulk of the fans. Saying that, he has blocked a good few on Twitter

He isn't an attacking midfielder, but he dos have the ability to do it to a degree.
It's okay patrolling the centre-circle and directing the play and that is his main role, but some of his best moments are when he darts out from deep and commits players. Not something he should do continually but something he should do more than he does

I've never quite understood 'We can't all be wrong' , when obviously lots of people are wrong about various things all the time.

i think darrell clarke is the perfect manager for lines, last season he got a bit lazy and promptly got axed from the team and had to sweat and toil and possibly wait for injuries to get another run in the team. when he got that run he played a big part in the promotion run in but the message from dc was clear and chris lines temperment needs that type of management imo.

Cue posts claiming Hitler had it right and Merkel has it wrong. He was a good footballing man. Very good right winger, but as a manager tut tut, playing that formation away to russia, left this defence wide open, midfield weak imho
