OTHER MATTERS
Following a proposal from Albion chief executive Paul Barber, Championship clubs agreed that the current play-off format should be reviewed to reflect a greater advantage to higher placed teams. Barber proposed two alternative schemes:
one that included an automatic right for the third placed club to proceed directly to the final; and another that saw 3rd and 4th place clubs each have two chances to reach the Final in one-off fixtures. The League's executive will now look in more detail at Barber's suggestions, as well as consider other formats to re-vamp what has been a highly popular addition to the end of the league season, as part of the League's further work on the Whole Game Solution.
- Clubs ratified the appointment of Ian Lenagan as the new Chairman of the EFL with immediate effect, as well as the re-appointment of Independent Director, Richard Bowker.
- Following FIFA's withdrawal of consent for the EFL's emergency loan system, clubs have agreed to a number of measures aimed at easing the transition to the revised arrangements, including:
• A player registered on a standard loan may continue to play non-first team football for his parent club during the term of his loan period.
• Clubs will be permitted to sign a goalkeeper on a seven day ‘emergency loan’ basis if they do not have a senior goalkeeper that has made 5 starting appearances in first team football.
• Clubs will be able to recall a goalkeeper at 24 hours’ notice from a loan period at another club if they are unable to field two fit goalkeepers in their 18 man matchday squad.
- From 2016/17 clubs will be required to hold at least two meetings/fans forums with a representative group of the club’s supporters, putting into practice commitments made by the EFL as part of the Government’s Expert Working Group on Supporter Ownership and Engagement which made a series of recommendations earlier in 2016.
- EFL regulations relating to transfer payments have been amended to permit the application of a transfer embargo to a club that defaults on sums owed to clubs outside the EFL or Premier League.

Interesting indeed. The article refers to the "Whole Game Solution". Link to EFL Whole Game Solution
Clubs are being asked to consider the re-organisation of the domestic league system into five divisions of 20 teams from the 2019/20 season. Under the proposal, The Football League would become a four division competition below the Premier League, including a new League Three, with 100 clubs competing across the professional game. In addition, the League Cup and League Trophy will be retained with the latter potentially having a revised format include a group structure of three games before becoming a knockout competition thereafter.

What is the sudden obsession with playing more flaming trophy games? Many times have I been in a crowd of 4000 at the Mem on a cold Tuesday night in November watching 2 knackered unimotivated teams go through the motions and I can't say the thought uppermost in my mind was ever 'please can we have more of this'.... Don't agree with proposed changes to the playoffs - Brighton should stop crying. You could argue that a team that finishes 6th deserves to have a worse chance than a team that finishes 3rd. On the other hand what the hell is so special about finishing 3rd? It's a bit like the argument that England have been unlucky in being knocked out on penalties so often - even if you accept the spurious assumptions that penalty shootouts are 50/50 bets what it primarily shows as that England have not been good enough to beat anyone decent in 90 minutes for a very long time. If teams want to avoid the playoff lottery then they can go up automatically. I saw Brighton's last day game v Borough and they epically bottled it as much as Spurs did in that game against Chelsea - completely went to pieces. They didn't deserve to go up so tough s**t on them frankly.

The five division of 20 was mentioned before.
Found it more interesting about the point to discuss the play offs and loan players being allowed to play other games for their home teams

Older viewers will recall that 3 teams going up automatically is a relatively new thing anyway, I think our own promotion season of 73/74 was the first time 3 went up.

Found it more interesting about the point to discuss the play offs and loan players being allowed to play other games for their home teams So because Brighton missed out on promotion as they finished they want to alter theseemingly successful Play Off system which has been in placed for a decade plus. Although I can't get my head around the suggestion the 3rd & 4th team get more than one chance, what are they proposing they keep playing the 5th & 6th teams until they eventually win? The goalie one is interesting as does that mean if we lose Milders or Puddy we can bring in a loanee goalie, was that why Preston was released so DC wouldn't be forced to us him in the future?
