I was disapointed to see the "new Keeper" thread was wrong because I think we could do with a new keeper.Don't suppose i'm the only one, although some may disagree. Steve was excellent last season and maybe again this time. But I think he needs some competition and i'm afraid I don't have confidence in our current reserve keeper. I think (in perfect world) we could do with a better keeper than Steve, with the latter becoming a very reliable reserve.

I think we don't need another season where the GK becomes a manufactured problem and took attention from the other weaker places

Personally I think Mildy is a solid experienced keeper but his reactions aren't what they used to be and could well be exploited in a higher league. I would keep Mildy as a back-up but look to sign a new 1st choice.

I understand Steve Phillips has been registered just in case Steve played against us for Bath City in friendly?! If the team blocks better the shots don't get through. Centre mid and defence job to stop the shot first.

In Mildenhall's defence he looks just as slow and rusty as he did at the beginning of last season but he came back well after a period out the side, however, you would imagine he should be much busier in this higher division and should he not maintain his form from last season it has to be Darrell's priority to replace him.

Mildy does not deal with crosses. Fear at a higher level he will be exposed quite quickly.

Mildy does not deal with crosses. Fear at a higher level he will be exposed quite quickly. What about the defence dealing with crosses? For about the millionth time it doesnt matter if the keeper comes or not as long as the defence know what the keeper is going to do. People get too hung up on the keeper having to claim or punch everything. If the defence knows the keeper stays on his line they have to deal with it. If they know he comes the defence have to do a slightly different job and even cover the keeper in the event of a clanger Just about working as a unit. Wihout havent seen the pre-season games i dont know about the keepers general form. That said wasnt Mildy apparently s**t last summer

If we don't sign a new keeper I think we are in for a very hard season. Mildenhall was very slow last season -- I don't think he will get away with it this season.

I guess I must be the only person on here who thinks that Puddy played excellently in both matches this week.

All the goals were down to very poor defending by all four defenders and the total lack of a midfield with three bench players in there (Gosdling, Ollie Clarke and Sinclair). Kilgour is nowhere near good enough at the present time even if we were still in the Conference, I doubt McCrystal will be up to regular League 1 and the two full backs will have to up their defensive side of the game this season as will not be able to attack so much but they will not have a problem if we get the midfield and central defence right. Mildenhall and no chance with any of the goals other than a positional problem with the cross which was pure luck anyway. I would prefer to see a new keeper tp come in to push him as long term Puddy is not the answer.

Kilgour has just turned 18, he's going to be a hell of a player. Worth noting his old man (Mike) played over 1,000 games at senior level all above the Western League.
