I think that the most interesting part of the Bristol Post's story, was when Matty Taylor said . . . Make of that what you will, but welcome back to Matty Taylor.

I like the comment from MT, he should have ambition to play at a higher level, if he is doing well by january to attract offers then we should be in a good position too. It also sounds like he feels he owes the club and fans a bit of pay back for all of our support for him over the time he has been here.

It must be said, he was subject to so many pressurising rumours and jumped conclusions this Summer. For that, it must be applauded how honest and professional he's been signing on the dotted line and giving that statement to explain his activity the past few months. Hope you've been working on one-on-ones Matty, if you find the composure for that then the number of chances our creative midfield in Linesy and Bodin feed you will surely gun for 15+ goals this year...

Interesting...
BBC Oxford Sport @bbcoxfordsport Appleton on Matt Taylor: "We'd shaken hands on an agreement, but I'm told (now) he hasn't got a desire to play for his hometown club. #oufc
Delighted he's signed though.

Taylor doesn't command 100% support from Gas fans. That's just being honest. There are some (especially at Mem as opposed to away games) that have targeted him in past.
I am glad he signed. I've been supportive and vocal even though I freely admit to being on the fence about him last year.
I also think it's good for team spirit and continuity to keep as much of the promotion squad together if they are good enough, so welcome back to the family Matty....it's like you never left!

The best possible signing this Summer. OUFC lost their 2 best players - well I'm not sure about O'Dowda - Walsall have lost all their top players, likewise Port Vale but somehow we keep all of ours well done DC, Hamer & no doubt Wael!

He can still play for them when he's old and fat, but right now his career is on the up.

Excellent. And, with hindsight, I'm glad he took his time. Better than making a quick decision then wondering what else might have been out there if he'd looked a bit harder. And now if he does go we get a decent amount of cash.
