Promotion or relegation is not a disaster should the club have control of there outgoings (I.e. Not burdened by long, high wage player contracts which stifle adjustment to any new division). The club have rewarded the squad who achieved promotion and the existing players now need to show at least league one quality if not potential champ quality in the short term future. Evolution not revolution!!

A couple of points. In retaining Matty Taylor, this is the first time I can recall, that we have held on to a 'star striker'. The previous boards couldn't wait to cash in on any asset we had. Also, one word. MOMENTUM. We've got it. Play offs for me. Whilst I love the positivity, I am just unable to see what is basically the same squad from last season, get close to a play off berth and my gut tells me this will be a struggle. It's not that long ago that we were losing games in league one whilst Trolls was in charge and the mood was very different. I am now beginning to think we are not going to see more signings but hope this is just me being silly.

Given a period of grace or not, it highlights the madness of all seaters when a stadium can be 'safe' and licensed one day, and then, through promotion, overnight becomes illegal and does not meet regulations even though for most of that season it was probably sold out.

We've had 6 promotions in 96 years so they don't come along too often. No it wouldn't be a disaster and we would just have to put up with Championship football in a stadium needing lots of tlc. We can't pick a season to get promoted, it doesn't work like that, if the opportunity comes we grab it and worry about the next season when it comes. DC signed a 3 year deal with us and not Leeds! Didn't do that to stay in league 1. So we'd be in a poor stadium but sell out with 12,700 each week. That prospect is better than some we've faced over the last 2/3 years! UTG!

It certainly seems that our Red neighbours are well ahead on recruitment but we do have time yet

Are Burton Albion worried about the prospect of Championship footie with just 2000 season ticket holders. They only started in the Football League just some five mins ago.
What about AFC Bournemouth a Club we played regularly over the past 90 years ....struggling to stay in the Prem and paying Liverpool £12m for a reserve winger.
We have to be bold and push for the dream .....a Bristol league derby in the Premiership in two years time. Tom Lockyer captain and Matty Taylor scoring for fun....

Burton were also aware that there is a premium of £6m up front for each team in the championship, whereas it's only £1m in League 1. That would help a bit

some very good arguments against my suggestion that "promotion would be a disaster" maybe i should have put "promotion might cause some problems but what the hell we want it anyway" ?

I guess that the 82 ers found out that the championship has gone onto an even higher level from their last period in it. That 6 million will easily be eaten up if you want to recruit the quality of player needed BUT wouldn't it be just fantastic if DC really did carry on and manage to get this squad up to another level. There would be a lot of people realising that team spirit really is very important and we have only to look back when we were last in league one and Nick Higgs believing that we could buy promotion. We just saw a revolving door of mercenaries and we have learned an harsh lesson. With some good luck and a decent night, I hope to be at the game tomorrow night.

surely promotion is not wanted this season? any new ground wouldnt be ready and the mem would need to be all seater resulting in a 7,000 capacity and many fans lost forever as they couldnt watch there team in the championship. thoughts anyone? We would be given up to 5 years to go all seater. Brentford who have been in the Championship for 3 years still have standing at both ends. They are hoping to move in to a new ground in 2/3 years time

For gods sake man get a grip anyone who has a minimum knowledge of football knows that we will never play a Bristol Derby in the premier league because those s**thead b'stards will never get there they are destined to always be the bridesmaid and anyone who has seen a south side wedding will know how ugly that can be

Having read that I now feel we really shouldn't be lowering expectations

To bang a drum, the board has never suggested they will flash the cash. They have not even said they have unlimited funds. Would suggest you stop looking to deep for conspiracy theories, it evolution not revolution! Wolves have been bought for 45 million, our value now being league 1 must be greater than 6 months ago.
