When was the last time you purchased a shirt or item of training gear? Training gear, never, shirts, I have loads, including last season's Rovers' shirt, and the year before, and the year before, and so on, why does that have a bearing on the quality of Macron product please? Macron has been known for some time, so I asked a Villa fan, he said that after returning his shirt 4 times for bunched seams he just gave up and accepted the 5th shirt, which was the same. But I didn't just take his word for it, I asked other supporters whose clubs use the stuff, pretty much the same story. Admittedly I only asked about replica shirts, but I guess that's the garment that most people will be interested in?

That's fair enough, if you'd not bought any kit etc recently there's no real point in worrying about it. I certainly don't, as you do that's fair.

Surprisingly,i heard this was likely to happen about 2 months or so ago.A good source then,or maybe it was common-ish knowledge.

I will reserve judgement until I see it, though I only usually were retro shirts nowadays, as most modern kits are slimfit and skin tight which in xxl tends to make me look like a badly disguised alien from Mac and me!

So what is the difference between a replica top made by Macron and one made by Nike/Adidas? I have owned at least 40 kits of all different clubs and nationalities over the last 30 years and would completely agree that although some material/design choices have been questionable over the years, there isn't a manufacturer in my mind who has a bad reputation for consistently bad 'build' or 'feel' quality. My favourite kit manufacturer (Adidas) have made some of the best (and worst) kits I have ever had the displeasure of seeing or wearing but (if maintained correctly) the build or make-up of their shirts were never in question. Even a basic Google search will display the types of kits Macron have put up of late and some of them are really bloody smart. The Napoli and Monaco ones look particularly neat. If you visit a couple of Macron-supplied team forums (I went to Stoke, Villa & Sheffield United) there are posts about Macron: some good, some bad. The ones I saw that were bad stemmed from "build quality" and manufacturer snobbery, mainly. Of the positive ones, they were mainly about "build quality" and smart design - balance that out how you would like. I couldn't find much consistent evidence of there being mass agreement of lack of quality or fantastic quality, either way. Basic searching on Google of any kit manufacturer, followed by " bad kit quality", revealed snippets of displeasure about all kit suppliers. The striking thing about the short time I spent reviewing Macron kits, is that the home strips seem to be released along relatively purist, classical designs ( West Ham, Stoke, Sporting Lisbon & Bologna), while some of their away strips are among the most creative out there ( Lazio, Napoli and this PAOK 90th Anniversary kit is just delightful).

If we have moved on from Errea it will be somewhat ironic as the training gear in 2015/16 has been probably the best, and most popular, they've produced while we've used them.
The one top white quarter was used by the other teams they supplied, but really did work well for us.

Having gone to a number of Villa games at the start of our non-league 'campaign', I think that the biggest complaint from their fans tends to revolve around the availability of replica kits at the start of the season. Each year the home kit appears the week prior to the season kicking off, with the away kit around a month later. However listening to their winging this appears to happen every season, no matter who the kit manufacturer is. To their credit Macron produced a number of 'classic' replica Villa kits from previous seasons - kits that been previously manufactured by other companies. This may be Macron trying to erase previous kit manufacturers from the memory, but gives fans the opportunity to replace replica kit that has seen better days (or in my case re-sizing from XXL to XXXL). Anyone for a new replica Tesco carrier bag?

I blame Nick Higgs for not insisting that future kit should be bought from superior suppliers before agreeing to sell the club.

what difference does the manufacture of our kit make? Surely the club gets the best deal it can, I can't imagine Nike or adidas fighting each other for our business. Infact it's probably a pain in the arse making a quarter kit in such small numbers. I'm looking forward to a change of design esp training tops

Blame him in person, Jim is probably putting the finishing touches to plans for Nick's global open top bus tour to celebrate his achievements running Rovers. Sure to be in a town or city near you soon.

I'm looking forward to a change of design esp training tops Oh my days, that hoary old shibboleth being trotted out again to a chorus of 'poor us'. Quarters are irrelevant to the production process. The shirts are not hand stitched separate pieces of intricately dyed material. They're printed. Quarters, stripes, spirals, daffodils, 'The Scream', have what you like. Remember the migraine away shirt in the 90s? Macron's design studio seems quite classically stylish, though: hopefully they'll be good quarters.
