With Gosling signing does that mean it's only Lines, Ollie Clarke and Taylor to agree? If so DC has done well to retain those and would be surprised if Clarke and Lines don't sign. Well done so far DC. UTG! and Easter.

Well done so far DC. UTG! and Easter. In that case I hope Easter signs because he is a class player and his know how at League 1 will be important. He has that split second extra bit of time to make the right pass and play others in esp around the box. He is a very precise player, I hope he signs. UTG!

A friend of mine who uses Twitter has reposted a comment from Alistair Durden to say that Matty Taylor will be announced as having signed a new contract for us in the next couple of days.
Mint.

Mint. he has stated that CL has agreed his new contract. Nothing on AD's timeline to suggest MT has signed or will sign.

I think Matty will sign for us and that it is being deliberately left as the last big announcement. Well that's what I am hoping! :-)

Does anyone know when we are going to sign some quality players that will take us onwards in Div 1 and beyond. Why we are resigning a lot of these very average Div 2 players beats me especially now we have financial clout. DC will have to do better than this i feel.

DC has taken players on an X Factor-type 'journey' from the Conference to League 1. He thinks that they have potential to thrive there, and that they provide a core, with the sort of spirit and attitude that he wants, around which he can build
as one perspective, last time we were in this situation Trolls found that his L2 team could do pretty solidly in L1 - with the likes of Effing Brilliant, Dis, Cams etc - but not get promotion, at least in his view. He then got money from the Board to sign players who could take things to the next level - Snowflake and co - and it was a bit of a disaster
also, the new owners have made it clear that they don't want to buy promotion, but build steadily. About 4 months in, it seems to me that the plan is bang on track

The question is though, do we have financial clout?

Well we have a lot more financial clout than we did prior to February 19th. If the Board decide that money is better spent on the Stadium project / Academy / Infrastructure - then that's good enough for me. They have never said they will throw money at players. As AMPG rightly says - that policy didn't work before anyway. In DC and the Board we trust.

No we don't The club, and the company that owns it, has had its debts cleared, as I understand it. But we have yet to see positive cash flows to fund even the current operating costs.
What people should get away from is the idea that rich people will fund their passion ad infinitum
That's lazy and is a short road to nowhere. We could raise ticket prices by 25%, that would help.
Cue shock horror (But that's my money!!!)

Yes it has been cleared off of BRFC's accounts but I am sure it has not been magiced away or has been "gifted" to BRFC. I would hazard a guess that it is on Dwayne Sports books as are the consultants fees we must be paying at the moment as they are not employees of BRFC.
Am I overly woried about this, no. I am sure these debts will be cleared when The Mem is sold. As I am not a Shareholder in Dwayne Sports, I will never be able to ask the most obvious questions, unless BRFC are having to pay any interest or fees to Dwayne Sports.

Good question There were more debts than that contentious loan though (I believe) and I had rather presumed the new owners agreed a share price with the previous owners on a net book value basis, ie they would have come to an agreement on the ground value, reduced that value by the liabilities outstanding and added back goodwill. In that way the hit on the debts was born form the previous shareholders return on their investment. I presumed. Anything else actually is a bad deal for fans.

I am sure a lot more will come into the open around Christmas time with the publication of Sir Geoffreys memoirs as the whole takeover could only have taken place with the sale of his shares and those under his control.

A thread on which of our players have yet to sign a new contract turns into a thread questioning the board! Mmm... I don't think it matters, I may be wrong but hasn't it already been said that the loan that everyone was worried about has been paid? Just because one poster doesn't appear to like DCs renewal of contract policy the thread turns! I know it's all about opinions but...and Westbourne, they can't have been that average Div 2 players because they got us promotion. But it is all about opinions and I am glad DC is in charge of the recruitment, I don't feel he needs to do better. We have another month to go and feel sure we will get another few new players in. After all if we go back 2 weeks we had hardly anyone signed. UTG!
ps I think Wimbledon signed their first player today and Oxford haven't signed anyone yet. They are probably happy with their squads as well and know the value of continuation.

Bournemouth have done pretty well doing this, and they are limited to 10-11k attendances as well.
Promotion can be bought, most are these days
