I really hope how we play is left up to the manager to decide. Let's just hope another Ray Graydon or John Ward style manager doesn't turn up soon then.

Darrell Clarke: Leeds United make formal approach to speak to Bristol Rovers boss
41 minutes ago BBC From the section Football
Darrell Clarke played for Mansfield, Hartlepool and Salisbury before turning to management
Leeds United have made a formal approach to speak to Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke, reports BBC Radio Bristol.
Clarke joined Rovers as assistant boss in 2013, but was in charge when they were relegated in May 2014.
Since then, the 38-year-old has led them to back-to-back promotions from the National League and League Two.
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson turned down an offer from Leeds on Friday to lead the Championship club next season.
Clarke began his managerial career at Salisbury City, where he secured four promotions in five seasons before joining Rovers.
After they were relegated out of the Football League in 2014, they bounced back via the play-offs 12 months later before they were promoted again on the last day of the 2015-16 season.
Current Leeds manager Steve Evans has received no word on his future at Elland Road, but is due to return to work at the club on Wednesday.

Forced our hand then on a new contract? Or just sped the process up!? Obvious a bit more than a rumour now. Although everyman and his dog seem to have been linked to this job in the past few weeks - even though they still have a manager! Tells you all you need to know about Leeds atm under Cellino.

I would rather sit outside of Sainsbury's and beg for food than take a wage from the owners of Leeds.

All this 'talk' from Leeds while they still have a manager there, classy. If it was anyone other than Evans I might have felt sorry for them!

Would a £1m salary tempt you to the frozen North ?
I'd go to North Korea for £1m. But would you get out?

Leeds have finished between 13th & 15th the last four years. Absolute state of a club. They aren't going anywhere soon, hopefully they will be moving onto their 3rd choice within the next few days. No worse than the club he took over 2 years ago but only I div below prem . football management is brutal you can spend years building your reputation than one bad season and it's all over if he agrees a deal with Leeds it could set him up for life financially and if it goes tits up he would get a handsome pay off .lets see what wail can offer him to stay in wages budget and hopefully a new stadium ?? If he goes he will always be a hero here

Personally if he does go I'd be happy with one of Mikey Harris or Danny Cowley (yes I know Cowley has just gone to Lincoln). What about Stewy?
Stewart or Harris are potential 'continuity' appointments

DC seems pretty sensible and I'm sure he realises joining an unstable club like Leeds has the potential to damage his career. Here he has the support of the board and fans and is building a solid and impressive league reputation to match his non-league one.
DC ushered in a new era here at Rovers bringing a huge culture change, I hope he'll want to stay and continue this, to see how far he can go.

Let's all pray that sanity prevails as the damage caused to BRFC and DC's profile and self-esteem could be incalculable. I really hope that Wael and Chairman grab hold of this and kill it today.

Would we get compensation? Isn't he on a 12 month rolling contract?
If so presumably we would
I hope he doesn't go, but if he did it will be interesting to see the new board in action and how they go about replacing DC
Would be interesting to see the new board show a signal of intent and keep DC!

DC is young enough to bide his time on this, although if we struggle next season is he likely to get another offer like this again so soon??
Remember he is unproven in L1 let alone the Championship.
He has been with us 2 years as manager and 1 under John Ward, as much as he looks/sounds like he loves the club he wont have the same passion as you or I, its a job and like most people you want to earn as much as possible as quickly as possible. Don't be surprised if he does take it, if I was in the same situation (and not a born gashead) I would.

You would think his job security would be better at Rovers though. He's got plenty of credits in the bank here whereas the first sign of trouble and Leeds will probably turf him out.
I suspect that DC has that much self-belief in his abilities that he might not even consider that scenario though.

It's the first time in my life time we've had someone wanting to take our manager, not like it's a small club either!
Leeds are huge, but they're owned by a moron. DC wanted to get us top 10 League One before he moved on and that was under the old ownership. Unless more goes on behind the scenes that we don't know about, DC must recognise under the new ownership he can push further with us?
It's not as if he's old and he won't get the chance of a decent payday like Leeds again. Whether he stays with us, or he goes to Leeds and whatever happens there I believe DC will manage at the top level one day.

Club statement PUBLISHED 12:30 24th May 2016 Bristol Rovers can confirm that they have received an approach from Leeds United to speak to Darrell Clarke regarding him taking over as manager at Elland Road. As yet, the Yorkshire side have failed to meet the conditions set out by Rovers to enable any talks to take place and until that happens there is nothing else to report. We can also confirm that Rovers have offered Darrell a new and improved three-year contract to remain as Bristol Rovers manager. Bristol Rovers will not make any further comment until, and unless, there have been any further developments. I suspect that DC has that much self-belief in his abilities that he might not even consider that scenario though. That's my worry. He set promotion from the conference and top 7 League 2 at the start of the seasons. After March he said the autos were the target. DC is a very confident man and the only reason I can see him turning it down is if he met the owner and the owner was clear that DC couldn't run everything his way.

Ok put it this way, if we really struggled next season for the first few months he could be sacked with us, let alone Leeds. At least with them it would be from a higher level and a lot more by way of a pay off.
The new owners of Rovers have just enjoyed the ride so far, there is no saying they will be any more patient than Leeds. Much easier to resurrect a career following a sacking from a club like Leeds with their owner than from league one with us.
