I used to have a soft spot for Bristol Rugby. No more. I really wish they would change their shirts to red as it really irks me to see a Bristol Sport team stealing our colour. South of the river is red - north of the river blue and so may it be for ever. wont be long to see them in red if they make the Prem

Awful sport. Going by what a Brizzle rugby supporting colleague has told me, he fears for them going into the premiership. Likelihood of them getting crushed every single week, so I guess SL will have to dig deep once again and splash the cash. Can only assume the Sheeds will get the scraps of whatever is left in the egg chasing budget

There will be a future share with rugby, in the shape of Bath, but only for European fixtures, and the UWE surface will be desso grassmaster so the playing surface will unaffected allowing for a full season of slick passing football on the deck.

I'm not the greatest rugby fan but have become acquainted with some Bath players and a coach over the last 12 months so my interest in the sport has increased, but I just couldn't bring myself to support Bristol, I shall be gracing the Rec tho next season. At least they are true blue....

Well similar to a few who've posted above I always had an equal affiliation to both Rovers and Bristol Rugby but due to financial circumstances couldn't watch both as a kid so went to watch the rugby at the Mem courtesy of complimentary tickets from school. I had also at times been a season ticket holder in later years. However, I have not been to a game since they moved and neither will I be going much to the annoyance of my s***head brother in law but more to the sadness of my sister who says that it is just not the same anymore. I have a sort of ambivalence to Bristol Rugby now, it was always the next result after Rovers I wanted to know but I don't really care that much anymore, I mean they even play in red shirts away from home now and tradition in rugby is if the away team plays in a similar colour to the home team then the away team changes to the away strip, which for Bristol is now red I'm pleased they've done well and hope they get promotion but I won't ever be going to a home match unless they move back to North Bristol which is very unlikely. However, provided it doesn't clash with the Gas I may go to a few away games at Gloucester, Worcester or Bath

Was thinking of going for the 2nd leg, not much point now, surely even Briz can't mess this up, can they? We don't have a Briz rugby club ... we do have a rugby team called 'Old Reds' playing here in Brislington though, which is quite apt as Bristol Rugby might become the new reds.

Was thinking of going for the 2nd leg, not much point now, surely even Briz can't mess this up, can they? You're saved the dilemma Bamber, the game is now sold out, which does negate the original posters point a little. As a Bristol Rugby and Rovers supporter for many years, I was bemused at the underlying antagonism, which mostly came from the rugby fraternity towards Rovers. They were going bust and Rovers enacted the pre-agreed arrangement to take over the Mem and allow them to continue, but instead of directing their anger towards their own poor management, many wanted to turn their spite on Rovers. The move to AG as part of D.o.G.'s franchise was the straw to break the camels back for me and I wouldn't ever bother to pay for a ticket to support them now. However, I do think promotion to the rugby premiership could be to City's disadvantage, with SL's funds being directed more to the oval ball and away from the sh*te... no?...well you can hope! Sorry for my ignorance but who or what is D.o.G ?

Well that's a little bit childish isn't it? It's women's football. They represent the city. Likewise with Bristol rugby. Everyone should support them and want them to do well irrelevant of the football side you support. I've always found following Bristol City and Bristol rugby perfectly suited no matter where Bristol were playing. They represent Bristol. So if you like rugby them you absolutely should get behind them.

Any way, good luck Bristol, anybody got a spare ticket for Wednesday?

Thanks, I tried but couldn't work that out. Thick Friday in Kingswood was the same where I was too! I quite like it though. Its quite Shakespearean....'what darkly deeds in Guernsey's realm', 'what news of Guernsey's mixing to report?' sort of stuff

Bristol deserve all of the sports fans support from Bristol. Football comes a fair distance in front of rugby in my care factor but it'd be great for the city and right that we have a Premiership rugby team.
If Exeter can have one, Bristol certainly can.

Serious question. If we attend your pit to watch rugby will we be asked to provide receipts to prove we've paid for the cloths we are wearing?
