There are a certain group of Gasheads who always strike me as absolutely desperate to frame history in such a way as to give Paul Trollope no credit whatsoever. So all credit for any success under him somehow gets directed at Ian Atkins signing ability and Lennie Lawrence's Director of Footballing. Trollope did an excellent job pulling us out of the mire when quite a few of us thought we were destined for oblivion. He was an incredibly steady hand on the tiller who eventually outstayed his welcome as all manager eventually do but is comfortably in credit as a Rovers manager. It will be interesting to see how he does at Cardiff.

PT was a good man, a very good coach and managed us for one of our 6 promotions and that for me earns respect as not many managers managed that. Under him we improved every year and because it was nearly 6 years ago won't get into the arguments over him over whether he was a good manager or not. IMO he was but know others disagree. I still think he has been much maligned on here unjustifiably and I still think that had we kept him we would have stayed up. Instead the board reacted to fan pressure and sacked him. As the saying goes, you never know what you've got until it's gone. And my god what a load of dross replaced him. Managers I didn't respect, managers without a plan and even one manager who could start an argument in an empty room and showed total contempt for the fans. Well done PT I wish you every success at Cardiff, except if you play Rovers! UTG! ps. Before he was appointed for a few years the Rovers warm up before a match was similar to a Sunday League team. You would arrive at a match to see them in little groups, appearing to hardly bother about anything. Got better under Atkins but then PT was taking the warm up and instilled some confidence in me that we had someone who had a plan and knew what they were trying to do. When he became manager he still took the warm-up and he was so hands on it was great. I felt that the manager knew what he was doing. It's just one of the things I remember about his time at Rovers. It's interesting to me that you should mention the pre-match warm-up under PT warehamgas, because I always watched it intently when we played away from home in particular. Sitting in the stands it was possible to observe the thought and the preparation that had clearly gone into the routine. PT would invariably stand like a sergeant major with his stopwatch in his hand, and overseeing everything. Mind you it didn't always work. I was at the Boston United away game when he gave a very good account of himself in the warm-up, and we were well beaten that day.

Yes Brizzle I always watch the warm up as I always find its gives a good clue to the attitude of the players, the general climate in the club at the time. Before PT the warm up under Atkins was usually taken by PT but before under the caretaker managers and Ray G the warm ups were awful. I saw them at Yeovil when we lost 0-4 and the whole afternoon was embarrassing because when warming up the only things missing from a group of uninterested players were the fags!! A Sunday League approach would have been a step up! When PT took over he continued to take them and that did impress me. And as you say they were meticulously planned and after what had gone before it was a definite step up. That it didn't always work was another matter! I am pleased to see the preparation this season has been very good. Even when appearing late at Yeovil back in August they didn't appear too put out. UTG!

I want PT to do well as he always comes across well in the media, then you realise that means Cardiff City doing well.
It's like finding out your sister is shagging a s**thead.

PTs chances of success have just improved as Lennie Lawrence has joined him.

Good luck to him. Think he may do a really good job there. Amazing how some on here and others forums believe him to be a poor manager. He reversed our slide, got us promoted to League One, took us to a JPT Final, masterminded that tactically spot on two legged win over City, took us to a FA Quarter Final and established us in League One. Things turned when LL was given the boot and more importantly, when Higgs took the reigns and made dramatic cuts which unsurprisingly affected our fortunes on the pitch. Good guy who gave us great memories. Wish him all the best. No no no no no It was all Geoffs fault. He gave a promotion winning side and a profitable club to Nick. Come on, sort it out eh
