Those are the rules. Happens every year. The only thing I feel for Accrington is grateful I'm not going there next season. I'm a supporter of the playoffs. It may not be quite meritocratic. But there are three automatic places available to teams that excel over 46 games. Playoff winners go up instead on a final burst of form. Without playoff dreams, mid-table teams' hope can run out by Christmas. Too many dead rubber games at the end of the season can't be good for league football. Finishing the season with an all or nothing trip to Wembley's better than 7th vs 13th 0-0 bore. The perfect managerial hat-trick: 1. Promotion via Wembley playoff final. 2. Automatic promotion via last day home game victory. 3. Automatic promotion as division champions. Eastville expects.

Got to feel for Accy, over 46 games they finished a full 10 points clear of AFC, and it counts for nothing. Those are the rules. Happens every year. The only thing I feel for Accrington is grateful I'm not going there next season. Of course, and we finished even further behind Plastic Franchise FC in 2007, we went up, they didn't, I didn't complain then. But none of that stops me feeling for Accrington and their supporters.

Selfishly, what it means is, we will be joined by a club in 3rd division that couldn't beat us last season.
And really, have less resources to progress this season..

Especially john Coleman being too cocky. Feel for the fans definitely. They have to go through this. Their time will come

They didn't beat us last season and don't have the owners that we do, so the statement is true whoever wins the final.

Serves the dopey media getting too excited following the penultimate weekend. Poor Accy supporters, but Coleman was a right dohnut in some of his comments in the week.
Good for the Wombles anyway, the final should be a good un!

Got to feel for Accy, over 46 games they finished a full 10 points clear of AFC, and it counts for nothing. The best team usually goes up. The 4th place team has gone up over 50% of the time, the 7th place under 15%. Accrington couldn't beat Stevenage when the pressure was really on. Along with the late goals that have undone them in the playoffs shows a lack of mental strength. They looked a shadow of the team that have have been so impresssive over the season - it came to the crunch and they buckled - they don't deserve to go up.

Then you would have to define ''the best team'. They held it together over 46 games, unlike Plymouth who were sat comfortably in a play off place and fell to pieces but now have a pay day at Wembley which will provide the sort of funds that would make a big difference to Accy. We couldn't beat Stevenage when the pressure was on either. Did Accy deserve for the ref to be so desperate to take a leak that he blew for half time just as a player was turning in the box to take a shot that went into the bottom corner of the net? That cost them 2 points. Would I swap places? Hell NO! Do I feel for them, yes, unlike us, Plymouth, Portsmouth they don't have the fan base or resources to necessarily pick themselves up, add to the squad and go again next year.

The best team is the team that finishes 4th, and they go up more often than not. Accrington were the best team in the playoffs, sadly over the two games they looked a shadow of the side that came to the Mem. Every side gets decisions against them. Im sure they have benefited from decisions as well. Think back to the Wycombe travesty, and hitting the bar 3 times against Mansfield. I would still struggle to argue that we didn't deserve to go down.

There are decisions that go against you, and decisions that go against you, it isn't often the whistle blows as the ball is on it's way into the net.

Sky frothing at the mouth over Josh Windass presumably because his dad is well known and a (former?) sky pundit. Windass was bang average in both games even Accy fans said the same. Good player normally though!
As for the result I wasn't really bothered who won, i'd fancy Plymouth against either of them if they turn up. It was nice to watch with a relaxed interest.
You always feel the team finishing higher deserves to go up but thems the rules I'm afraid. As for refereeing decision which cost them points, boo-hoo, every team can probably have cases for incidents which cost them over the season.
Accy stayed down on goal difference, we went down on goal difference, both with a higher than average points total for the position. You just take it on the chin and come back stronger, as we have.
