Pompey are sniffing around apparently. I could see why he would be tempted if that is the case. If he does stay, I sincerely hope (but doubt) that if we encounter a slightly dodgy spell next season, we don't see posts along the lines of 'DC reached his level in League Two'. I have also heard this rumour this morning, although 3rd hand. You never know how much truth is in it, apparently an ex employee of BRFC told his mate (who I work with) that Pompey had offered to double his and Matty Taylors wages,
Not too worried about this unless of course they sack Paul Cook.

Obviously I would say this, wouldn't I?: That would not necessarily be a great move for DC, to go to Pompey. Apart from the pressures of a big crowd etc, Pompey fans want success yesterday. I don't know if they would be patient enough. Cook has come in for some stick well before season finished. Of course, to a lesser extent impatience and frustration has been vented here....but on a much less scale and less vociferously. It's taken until this season for most of the DC bad feeling to truly subside and a maturity of appreciation to be universally recognised. A few doubted him this season (as poll here testifies) I just don't think Pompey will allow that time to any new manager.

I hope he doesn't leave but could you blame him or anyone else if your potential new employee's offered to double your salary. If that happened to me I'd be off in a shot

If a massive club like Portsmouth offered DC a 3 year deal on big wages then i would fully expect him to go. What he's done here is nothing short of incredible, and i think the most important thing Steve Hamer & Wael should be doing, is putting together a fantastic new contract for a fantastic manager.

I imagine Matt Taylor would be less than impressed with an offer to double his wages. Clarke too, probably.

There's something to be said for being somewhere where you have confidence in the owners and they show trust and respect in you. That's pretty rare in football. We don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but from what we have heard, I'd stick, if I were DC.

What he's done here is nothing short of incredible, and i think the most important thing Steve Hamer & Wael should be doing, is putting together a fantastic new contract for a fantastic manager. There is more to it than just this. Kaiser is right insofar as DC is only proven up to league 2 level. He is also unproven when it comes to spending money. That is every bit as important as it will be almost obligatory in the championship. But to do this, he will need funds to invest, and this is where our new owners have yet to prove themselves as well. Pompey are still a basket case, and it would take a couple of years to get rid of the philosophy by which the club is run. So even though DC lives just along the coast from them, I don't think he will be going anywhere just yet. This assumes of course that he has been reassured as to the extent of our new owners ambition. If he doubts it, then he will go.

This interest in our prize assets is normal. We're just not used to it. I don't remember the clamour for chris zebroski or garry kenneth. Exactly........

I know nothing of such matters. I believe he's been on less than an average L2 wage this season. He'll be looking to quadruple it at least if he's any sense.

It seems to me Wael has it spot on when he says Rovers want success,DC does too,so we're a good match. Funny old thing the way Managers get selected these days,eg...... Black players do often have to start lower down the divisions,a place I believe 99% of new managers should begin. The worst case I can remember of a player walking into a top job when it seemed obvious to me (and many others i'm sure),that this will go wrong, was Gary Neville and Valencia.I mean we can all talk about a game we've just seen on telly,we do it all the time. What managerial experience had he actually had?He couldn't (and quite likely still can't) speak the lingo.I wonder what he does in the England set up?He has had a shock now, surrounded by sychophants for the last decade or so,but then had to face the big wide world and he flopped. No surprise. Darrell Clark is ten times the manager Neville will quite likely ever be. Anyway,i won't be surprised if a 2nd tier club comes in for DC,but,i agree with 'El Presidente',Rovers are a very good bet for Darrell. Oh and hello, thought I might 'return'.

Hello Kevin (saw the stone ref and thought Duncan).Yeh,high hopes and agreed,we now have what it takes.Best thing the previous Board ever did, sell the club to person/people who have what it takes.I did advise them to sell up,once or twice (ha!) and i'm very happy they did.Not to mention to one of they foriegners (ha!).Okay, some cannot be trusted, but we a genuine football romantic, who happens to have a few bob and a soft spot for the Rovers! We won the lottery! Looking forward to it all! Hope you're doing alright Kevin!
