I stand to be corrected, but I seem to remember Slatter playing on the left (and btw, was surprisingly unpopular with a fair few in the north enclosure) Neil Slatter was right back with Brian Williams left back at the time. Plus remember Slatter was in Rovers third division side at age of 16/17and won his first Welsh full cap at 18 against Scotland in Cardiff. I saw his debut that day.
Typical Rovers fans having a go in the North Enclosure at a youngster, same thing happened to 17 year old Keith Curle and Josh Low both of whom went onto enjoy long careers elsewhere.
I agree about the North enclosure, full of moaners I remember a few of them giving Graham Withey the worst abuse that I have ever heard. I only ever went in there a few times, was in the bar once and a couple of older blokes ( I was about 17 then ) started giving me grief about wearing a Rovers away scarf, until they realised I wasn't on my own and we gave them some stick about not going to away games they soon scurried off. I loved the Muller rd end until segregation made it unwise to go in there, after that it was the Tote end for me until the South stand fire and then I used to go on the terrace that had been the South enclosure.
Slatter was good, did Geraint Williams sometimes play at right back ? mostly a midfield player I know.
Doug Hillard was a strong tackler who seemed very steady ( to me aged 9) I seem to remember him taking goal kicks for Laurie Taylor, but can that be correct?.
For what its worth I like Leadbitter,ok he isn't perfect but he is an exciting player who likes to try and do something with the ball,I really think that it was a mistake not to play him at Dover ok that's in the past now,but I hope that Rovers give him another contract.

I certainly remember Brian Williams being left back, but I must be going mad about Slatter, I swear I remember him being a number 3, my memory is obviously going. Slatter used to get loads of abuse in the north, although not as much as Steve White, who used to get plenty on the grounds that he wasn't Paul Randall. Keith Valle used to be a target as well!

You are right Rex. Neil Slatter (I used to get really mad at people who called him Slater) made his first 28 appearances at left back. He then switched to Right back.(120) I found this in The Definitive History. I wonder if harrybuckle knows the book?

Doug Hillard could run backwards almost as quick as Leads going forward. Didn't like to commit himself, didn't Doug!

Needs to improve his crossing, he's put in some quality at Oxford and for bodin at the mem recently. But I think a lot of the time he runs a nice wide line around the left back, knowing that he will beat him for pace and get a cross in, but I think he tries to cross to an area and not a man.

Danny has had a rather good season. For someone who was completely written off when he signed for us by a fair few supporters I think he's come on well. This season he's third on our assist table with 6 behind Chris Lines and Lee Brown (one less assist than Browner in 14 fewer games). Sure he can improve on his defending, but he's reasonably young, works hard for the team and I feel considering his limited league experience has done very well. He's also the fastest man on earth. Yet some say if he could deliver as well as Brown!

He is in my opinion underrated. He has improved his crosses and mr Taylor has been the main beneficiary of this improvement. My only wish is that he would keep going with his surging runs and either get into the box and shoot or draw a foul and resultant penalty. He would be on my team sheet almost every game.

Needs to improve his crossing Every player in the squad needs to improve on every area of their game, the facts are though Leads has one less assist than Browner in 14 less games so I think that proves his crossing isn't that bad.

For me, DL needs to have more faith in his pace. He should be running straight5 past defenders when they are facing him. I would love to see him do it more often rather than stop and return the ball to another player.
