A tad corny but I enjoyed it.
I'm guessing the commentators accent is from the far north of Bristol?

Good stuff and just goes to show how addictive our club is. We have many fans who are not from Bristol but who get struck down by Gashead personality disorder. Love the emotion

Cheesy as... But I loved it.Me too, but the whole thing is done tongue in cheek surely? You should read John Thompsons book, faithful & true, it's a short but great read and you'll then understand that it's about how our club can get into the heart of people not born here nor have had any ties. I am pretty sure it's not tongue in cheek but you'll have to ask John.

I had it in my head that I'd seen a video of his telling his story of how he became a gashead. Can't find it anywhere on the net now, just links to his book. Is the video a figment of my imagination? It's driving me barmy trying to work out if I just dreamt it. I love his videos btw, just wish there were more.

Hi Angas, I got to chatting with John after I bought the book and I have seen a few of his videos but not one that tells this story and so, I too, would like to see it if it exists. John is on Facebook, if you use it ? I think it's a great story and it's great how he tells it. To hear how a man, born in Scotland, came to his first game and how the club has got to his very soul, it's a great story and I'd love to hear from others who share the same type of thing. John is a great guy and is very easy to talk with & I have really enjoyed reading the book and hearing his story. It does us proud to hear of such a damascene experience. UTG. Once the gas gets into your blood then you are hooked, this is the bugbear of every single 82 fan. They can never understand why none of would change allegiances and I know they really believe many would turn to them when we went out of the league. As the saying goes, you'll never get rid of the gas !

Oh, you're absolutely right about all that I don't do facebook or twitter. If you happen to bump into him again I'd love you to ask about this video that's playing in my head. I could be totally wrong mind you (I dreamt a whole episode of Coronation Street the other night that was completely different from what was on tv). It is a great story and the video was very watchable - I really hope it does exist, it would be a shame if I was the only one who could see it

After city were promoted to the old first division many Rovers supporters started to go city instead of Eastville, people who had actually smelt the gas ! Tote end boys ! If you don't believe me ask PressureDrop or Badbloodash.

Very passionate about BRFC which is nice to see from someone without local connections

I know that but I am not talking of the past. I am talking of now and how our crowds actually went up when we dropped into NL. I know the 2 Browns both started at the opposing clubs and know a few that went to the 82 when they got to the 1st tier.

I do have quite a vivid image in my head of the start of the video though and the accompanying voiceover. Then again, it could have been something completely different. It wouldn't be the first time ...

It wouldn't be the first time ... He's done a few videos now and the one I think you may be thinking of is where he talks over his walk to the ground. I think he gives a very brief few words on not being from Bristol but now has been bitten by the bug. Not those words mind you Angas. I really enjoyed the book because it's a quick but entertaining read and it really does cover, very well IMO, how match day experience is for me. To hear it from a Scot, who has his own battles going on in the background, is fantastic. His videos have a kind of surreal feel to them & I believe this is why some think them tongue in cheek. Not sure on that but, when you read the background on how a date turned into a love affair with Rovers, I just love it ( said in Simon Cowell stylie ) his good lady is the guilty party in turning him but they have an 82 er son, I best not say too much more as you may want to buy the book. I got it on kindle it's nothing like other football based hooly stuff but is a very vivid painting of what it is that makes us special, even now & after all the fractious white noise, that has been a constant for so long. It certainly gave me the feel good factor.

That sounds as if it might be the video. I presume it's on his website so I'll have another look, thank you. I will be buying the book at some point too - a bit of a disappointment about his son though, I didn't know about that. But that's kids for you
