Same format as before, join the 1883 club and I assume a raffle.
So no "big" input of funds that way.

Wasn't this already underway before the takeover?

I still think it's a fantastic idea.

Stop coming in with facts, that's not what a forum is for!

I think the sponsorship raffle is one of the things the old regime got right.

How many is it limited to out of interest and why is it limited, are there regulations to comply with ? Couldn't the numbers be increased or have a Platinum ticket that cost £100,000 each ?

I thought it was limited to 100, although I stand to be corrected. I had assumed that it was to give all entrants a reasonable- albeit a 25/1 long shot- chance of winning a prize.
If the new board do decide to do away with the raffle, I do hope they come up with something similar to keep local businesses involved in some way, surely that has to be a good thing?

I hope the raffle idea ends and we get our first £1m shirt sponsorship, Ajib Bank would do quite nicely. I hear Thatchers are the only sponsor being considered for the UWE so far, I would think and hope that smaller companies will be given programme ad space.

As for A £1M shirt deal, well obviously that would be attractive in many ways, however, business isn't always about the headline price, and there is an awful lot to be said for a club interacting with the local community, both socially and in business. Also, just chucking money at a problem very rarely works.

If a big player does ever come in as a shirt sponsor, perhaps training kit could go to local tender??

Dont forget that now most modern shirts feature sponsorship on the back on the shirts and shorts. There should be plenty of scope to keep local business' involved. I think the raffle has been a great success and gives smaller companies a chance to get a great deal of advertising for a minimal cost. Although personally i would love to see Mr Higgs win and declare a sponsorship free shirt in memory of his glorious reign!! Or even just a picture of this face!

Not sure how many programmes are sold on a matchday so it's hard to gauge the cost of advertising versus the actual reach of the reader. I'm sure I read somewhere that shirt sponsorship revenue counts towards FFP, if this is the case then I would think having that extra revenue available would be a wise move, particularly as the business end of the season arrives. The club have been presented with local community issues, or shall we say the almost non existent involvement in the community and the territorial gains made by our foe across the river, this is something that is certainly going to be addressed. One suggestion I recently put to the chairman was for a closed bid from local businesses to be the headline sponsor for the e-newsletter, and for it to change on a regular basis, perhaps monthly, the current online potential reach for the newsletter is over 91,000 readers, that doesn't include people who do not use social media, at the moment the bristol post have the prime spot, personally I would like to see absolutely no involvement with that rag but that's another story and subject altogether. I totally agree with the importance of interacting with local business owners, I work with several small to medium businesses around the Bristol region as a small business owner, the balance has to be right, there is up to £60m to be recouped for the new stadium and sponsorship is going have a huge part to play in that, and as a business owner and fan I would rather have ticket prices kept to a reasonable level and bigger companies paying a premium price for advertising around the stadium.

Does ground sponsorship also count in FFP? If so another reason for renegotiating.

Not only is it a great idea but other clubs are now following our lead Idea came from BBs ownership of Clevedon FC. Others are copying you are right - and you only have to compare shirt sponsorship of other football league clubs to realise how valuable this is to our football Club. And there are good benefits for all companies taking part regardless of whether they win first prize.

I think there was a fair amount of slightly smirking coverage when they first did it, especially when the winner was the quaintly named and distinctly non-corporate 'Preston Plunkett Post Office'.
