To be fair even DC has dropped him to the bench many times this season Yeah and I think something happened in the transfer window that unsettled MT, just a hunch but whatever it was he seems to have sorted it.

So that's 20 goals for the season, for according to some "a non league player". Nothing else to say. Looks a proper player to me and always has but I am not surprised there are Rovers fans who don`t rate him. There were many who saw Rickie Lambert as a lazy fat sod who only scored free kicks and penalties. Welcome back from your exile. I thought you supported Man Ure. Do you watch Bristol Rovers matches?

Of those in the top scorers list on BBC, Taylor has the lowest minutes per goal of anyone in League two this season. Definitely doesn't deserve the stick he got

Hang on, most of "the stick he got" was during the first half of last season when he genuinely looked like he couldn't score in a brothel.
He's improved steadily since then, and the criticism has reduced.
Did he deserve the stick he got at the beginning? No, of course not. He was just unlucky to find himself playing fairly poorly at the lowest ebb in our history.

Still moaners in the Blackthorn End on Saturday. Bloke in front of me shouted you're always on your arse. I replied so that's how he's scored eighteen goals this season. He wandered off at half time and didn't come back to where I was standing. Shame would have loved to have been right in his face when Matty scored. Why can't people just support the team over the 90 minutes? There is a time and a place for moaning but it's not when the team are out on the pitch.

Is the stick some posters on here give MT over the top? You bet your ass they are, we signed Rickie Lambert for £200,000, a lot of money for a league 2 side for sure, he signed in August 06 and didn't get off the mark till November, and ended with 10 goals!! He turned out alright didn't he? He is the best striker we've had since RL in my humble opinion, both as a footballer, and as a marksman, should he have scored more goals? Hell yes, but as I and others have said before, if he got the goals he should have then we'd have lost him in the summer to a championship side, but he didn't, and we didn't lose him, and I for one am glad he came to us, and I hope he continues to be part of the blue and white revolution going on very near north Bristol, but not in Bristol (for the sheeds)!! Utg

Paul Randall Nothing else to say Paul Randall was a gem from non league that a 1st Division side were prepared to pay a small fortune for in the late 70s - we then bought him back for a huge £50k (probably nearer £500k these days) - fans raised that cash you might recall. Matty Taylor cost us nothing from Non league too & has scored more than 40 goals in less than 2 seasons. Both brilliant for BRFC. Quite similar in many ways. - nothing else to say.

Matty Taylors goals to game ratio is 1 every 2 games. You cant argue with that.

I think Gaffney has got 7 in 14. Two strikers each averaging 1 in 2 can cause some damage.

Taylor does seem to score in batches though so there are quite a few he hasn't scored in
