'Syd' Lawrence is a City fan, or at least he once claimed to be, Steve Yabsley was a good mate of mine at school, and he really wasn't interested in football, although another mate of ours Pete Stillman, who apparently went on to be a musician with bands like Texas was a big Rovers fan, and I used to stand on the Tote with him. I'm sure I've seen a bloke who looks like Chris Brown on the Blackthorn occasionally, normally arrives late & drunk, If anyone wants to get their copies of 'Bovver' to me, I will see if I can get them signed for you- just buy me a pint as a thank you .

Roni Size and Jeff Barrow, both actually fans and famous in their own way I used to do security for Ronnie Size. I really have nothing good to say, talk about huge ego. I left that job as I found it increasingly difficult to not intervene when he got angry with others. I believe he is fairly close best buds with Geoff D

GasMacc1, the blog link isn't working. Apparently, "Le site est en maintenance". Oh merde. It works for me! There isn't a lot more on the linked page, but if anyone is interested - and I'm beginning to regret posting - here it is in full. "Dean Lawrence (born 1961, Bristol) is a British actor who is best known for his role as Gypsy boy Tyso Boswell in the children's science fiction television series The Tomorrow People. Born in Bristol, Lawrence had wanted to act since the age of three, learning his craft from mimicking people and acting his way out of "tight corners". His mother had promised young Dean that if he strove for good results in primary school, he would go on to a good stage school. After the deal was made, Lawrence's marks sat above satisfactory level in his end-of year exams, so he was enrolled at the Barbara Speake Stage School at the age of eleven. Since his enrollment, Lawrence appeared in various commercials, doing modelling jobs for everything from bikes to cars and sung on records with Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart, Max Wall. and others. He also performed in quite few West End productions, including Carry On London and Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was also said in a Look-In article that he avidly supported the football team Bristol Rovers and that his favourite hobby was girls. It was after filming an appearance on 'Robin Hood Junior' as Edmund that Lawrence got the part as Tyso Boswell on The Tomorrow People. Filming for Dean's television debut as Tyso took place in late 1974. The character of Tyso had extra-sharp senses and mild claustrophobia, however, these quirks of Tyso never made it past Lawrence's second appearance, Worlds Away. Both Tyso and Stephen Jameson (who Tyso shared a special friendship with) were retired from the series at the end of 1976 in the episode Into the Unknown. After The Tomorrow People Lawrence had quite a few more acting jobs, such as Jerry in a guest appearance on the short-lived 1978 American situation comedy Another Day, Ron Harvey in Westway, a Knob in The Lords of Discipline and Jack in House of Caradus". ^ Price, Roger (2007-09-27). If these celebs were famous and supported the gas, they would have been vocal/present during the Wembley play off game. Only Olly was in that category so I would discount everyone else.

Well I was pretty much aware of all the replies. Again I refer you to my disclaimer A bit more detail ... dido Emu - I did think about including Emu and saying something like : Emu wrote the song " Singing Bristol Rovers All The Way", and being a mute famously throttled his mate Rod Hull (a Manchester United fan) live on ' The Parkinson Show', forcing him to record the lyrics. But I forgot to jot it down, and just as well probably. Foran for EnglandNoel Edmonds - As well as visiting Box 1 he also tweeting on Sunday 17th May 2015 "Proud to be a Gashead". - Also see Fanatical's reply. RexSyd Lawrence - He was interviewed coming out of the ground at Wembley 2007 and I couldn't believe how excited he was - perhaps a bit OTT. Not sure if he is still local, but was living round Bishopston, and maybe his kid(s) (and their friends) were keen on going. Yabbo - Not a big fan, but has mentioned them on the radio a lot, been interviewed half-time, donned the quarters for the legends & celebs game, went to a fair few games at Twerton and has talked about the FA Cup away to Liverpool a lot in the past. Pete Stillman - Couldn't find him mentioned on the Texas wiki page. Maybe he was a session musician and toured with them and others. GasMacc1Dean Lawrence - Thanks for this; I can add him to the tenuous list! Here is his IMDB page with more details: www.imdb.com/name/nm0492716/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1- It's a different child star than the one I'm thinking of though. The lad was interviewed by Nick Day about 5 years ago. KPThe Pearce you're thinking of is Jonathan Pearce, and you are right he does favour the other lot. He is a commentator though, and the Rovers fan is the producer / director.

If you see Steve don't mention me, I don't want him knowing where I live
Somewhere I have a cassette of Groovy Pineapples first album 'Cacks Down, Neddys Out', do you think it will be worth anything now?

Jonathan Pearce is a City fan though you'd never realise it given the way he wets himself every time he commentates on West Ham. I actually quite like him not so much as a commentator but for the shows he did on Channel 5 and 5 Live - it was intelligent football stuff that didn't patronise fans. But my god the man buys everything that West Ham are selling. He annoyed me so much I started actively disliking West Ham just because of the smugness and the constant 'cheepy chappy cockneys who won the World Cup' stream of drivel.

Just had a look through my vinyl collection and I have two 10" singles by Santa Cruz ('Heaven Only Knows' and '30 Degrees Below'), with 'Stillman' on the writing credits. I would have seen them a few times late 90s. If I remember right there is a connection with the family owning The Louisiana. I'm seeing the connections now with Quinton and Rorschach, which Yabbo was in ... and then extended from there connections on to other bands like The Beatnik Filmstars / The Heads / The Brilliant Corners ...

He should have stuck to doing the commentary for Robot Wars, that was just about his level
