I agree. The thing is that he's a young manager who is currently doing an excellent job with limited resources in the lower divisions, and I believe that he's fully tuned-in to that. He knows that he has the overwhelming support of both the BoD and the supporters, and he's getting the opportunity to learn his trade knowing that time is very much on his side. Move too quickly (or to too big a club) and he could very easily crash and burn. But as you say he feels a commitment to the club for the forseeable future, so there's no need to panic just yet. I still have nightmares about Gerry Francis Mk I's will he/won't he leave us saga, and I'd hate to start that up all over again unnecessarily. By the way, is your sabbatical over? It's good to see you posting again anyway. No, sabbatical not over. Just bored after the rush of December. So quiet everywhere. If I could have gone to a Norwegian forest to let out a few screams i would have done that instead when you go to the forest let me know... you can take me with you...purely as a friend!!! .....just love Norway

I think that the managers playing budget that is allocated to him by the BoD, has very little to do with their support or confidence in him, but more to do with the good housekeeping of the club. If they had zero confidence in him then presumably they would allocate him zero funds, or maybe even sack him. But as I understand it he was given a budget at the start of the season, and there was provisions that if we did well then more funds would be made available. The Board have most certainly allowed him to sign a number of loanees, the latest of which is Rory Gaffney, and the manager is apparently in touch with his parent club with a view to either extending the loan or making him a permanent signing. So there has been some support from the Board. My belief is that the Board are giving the manager all the financial support that they are able to, but bear in mind the overall finances of the club are not too good and will undoubtedly get even worse before they get better. It's quite possible that all parts of BRFC are trying to produce success on a shoestring.

I think DC is happy at Rovers. Seems genuine in his passion for the side. Although money is a huge motivator.

The question is if DC decided to look elsewhere then where could he get a better contract himself and a bigger playing budget etc, I doubt v. much Swindon could offer him anything better, don't forget Swindon took what must have been a real cheap option of employing the out of work Ling last time as manager.
I can only see a top half Div 1 side attracting DC this season, unless NH really started to mess him about, but would they be prepared to take the chance on a Div 2 manager who's had just half a season of good results?
