So was the first. Terrific composure. I work with a Cambridge fan; he was surprised that Gaffney was loaned out to anyone.

He's brought a completely different approach to our play, could be key to getting out of this league if we can acquire him until the end of the season and if we do I can foresee Harrison probably going out on loan (although I would prefer to see him stay as he gives us another option) as he's not going to get a game with Gaffney in the team.

Going on nothing other than gut feel and body language, I think EH doesn't figure in DC's plans. I was having an interesting discussion with a few of the boys and I can't help but wonder if keeping Matty Taylor out, is done so that because 1) he is already sold or 2) to stop scouts seeing too much if him. I know this is just chat but both could be quite real. Everyine I spoke to was shocked that Matty didn't start

Even though he'd played 90 minutes less than 48 hours earlier?

The Taylor absense was purely squad rotation - DC picked 2 sides he thought could maximise our points haul over Xmas without over extending our star players. I was surprised Mansell played every minute of both at his age but he was outstanding on Monday.

Everyine I spoke to was shocked that Matty didn't start Hi Kp, There shouldn't have been any shock really, DC had said earlier he would be rotating his squad so whilst an interesting view about Taylor I don't think it holds up and DC has already said that selling players would be madness. I think sadly for Ellis he still thinks he is still too good for us (probably his agent) and living just outside Newport as I do you hear little whispers from work colleagues who know his family well about what he intends doing if he doesn't start featuring in the first team. I appreciate Ellis is a young man and wants to play but suggesting he'll be demanding to start or will ask for a move is only going to end one way......

I agree that Ellis seems to believe he has some kind of divine right to start. I have been one of his most vociferous of backers up until recently. I won't go into why as it has been covered by many others. It's just a great shame that he seems to feel he is somehow worth more than our other players as we seem to have a great squad and they really do play for each other. I wish EH all the best but I don't believe his belligerent behaviour will endear him to many prospective buyers but I am often wrong. I was told Cardiff were looking at him & Lockyer. I very much hope we can keep this current squad together & sign Gaffney, until at least the end of this season. It is bloody marvellous to see the gates now even though the club made a huge balls up on Monday and many regular fans didn't get in

How do we know what Ellis thinks and believes? Presumably he wants to play football. Why is that wrong?

How do we know what Ellis thinks and believes? Presumably he wants to play football. Why is that wrong? Because I work with colleagues who are good friends with his family who tell them what Ellis is saying and they tell me I have absolutely no problem with him wanting to play football, he's a young man, that's what you'd want from him to progress his career, he's obviously frustrated because he's not a regular player these days but he also has to remember he was made available to other clubs and no one came in for him. I like him as a player and have an enormous amount of sympathy for him but if we sign Gaffney there doesn't appear to be too much opportunity left for him but DC may have other plans for him

He started a game five days ago, its not like he's frozen out. As for Chinese whispers, I'll leave you to it

It's surprising that it was his first goal and not the second, that was considered to be the better of the two scored on Saturday. But they were both cracking goals weren't they.

They were with different skills for both, close control for the first and excellent timing for the second, it's a good job Cambridge Utd have Corr scoring and doing well or else we might find trouble securing him for a 2nd loan spell and who knows we still might. Cambridge Utd could decide not to extend the loan to one of their rivals and loan him out somewhere else.

Extended highlights. 10 minutes worth! These expended highlights are great, but after reading this post on the Supporters Club website I'm wondering if it might have been a one off to show what is available on Gas Player: bristolroverssc.co.uk/2015/12/30/gas-player/
