Obviously football is all about opinions. In this case it just so happens that Bamber's and the Latvian's is wrong That keeper is the Wojciech Szczęsny of L2, with each mistake it becomes more and more obvious that he simply ain't very good.

I'll play for free. I'll even stop off at Sainsbury's and grab some oranges for half time. Where do I meet up with the team coach on Saturday please? The first line of my post is qualified by the second paragraph, which you failed to include in your reply. And the fact that I was offering to play under Clarke should have been your first clue that I wasn't being serious

But as Wigan are providing Nicholls services to us completely free of charge, can we complain too much? I'll play for free. I'll even stop off at Sainsbury's and grab some oranges for half time. Where do I meet up with the team coach on Saturday please? ask the Brechin keeper.. he likes long trip to home games

There was absolutely no deflection on the first goal and the keeper looked to me like he'd judged it to be going wide, which suggests an error. No fault for the second. The error was the ref's, as he had stopped the game for no reason the game should have restarted with a contested drop-ball. Having said that, booting it straight to the keeper was naive by Taylor. Crawley didn't have possession in our half when the game was stopped so could hardly have complained if he'd put it out for a goal kick. We'd already seen that Day had a monster kick and a monster to aim for up front. Even more naive, but less costly, was Harrison doing it as well when he came on.

As someone else has mentioned, Nicholls was completely unsighted for both, I don't see how he can be blamed for either goal but I guess others see it differently. Unless he had been right in front of the shot there's no way he would have saved the second shot because of the power with which it was hit, it was in the net before he even had chance to dive. The first goal was a well placed shot that went diagonally across the goal mouth past several players, you don't always have to hit the ball hard. No mention of the fantastic save he made in the 2nd half or of another aerial challenge he withstood and pushed the ball away or of several well judged catches from corners or free kicks. We failed to get players on the end of numerous corners, free kicks or crosses into the box. We had at least one shot cleared off the line in the first half not sure who shot but he had the whole of the goal to aim at and managed to hit the one defender on the line and the 2nd half the ball was bobbling around the penalty area frequently but not falling for us. There were two possible penalty shouts in the 2nd half too when Taylor was upended in the area but fell outside and the ref awarded a free kick and then Leadbitter who was trying to reach a loose ball from one of our players near the goal line was completely taken out by the defender and the ball went out of play, it should either have been a goal kick or a penalty but what did the ref award......a corner ?!!! As Steve has said Taylor was outstanding, Easter missed the best chance of the 2nd half but seemed to be suggesting to the ref the goalie got something on it, who knows. So by my reckoning it was a disappointing night and result but not so negative in our play as some are suggesting. UTG !

If Lines, Parkes or Easter had made the "clearance" that Sinclair made then the thread would have gone into meltdown but Mr Duracell gets away with it.

I used to love to watch the genuinely contested drop-ball, as opposed to what seems to have replaced it. I really don't know what Alex Munro would have made of it all.

I really don't know what Alex Munro would have made of it all. The infamous drop-ball incident at Eastville. Remember it well. Think Alex took a well-aimed kick at the other player's gentlemen vegetables and received his marching orders accordingly. Good times.

He got his retaliation in first, so to speak. Alex was a good man to have on your team, a trifle undisciplined on occasions I grant you, but a good man nevertheless. But as you say ''good times,'' which gave the majority of us fond memories.
