Gibraltar being an international football team is a joke. I agree from where we are at this time. But I'm sure it's helping Jake and others develop and become better players for it. I can't for the life of me so how sitting on a bench for 90 mins watching your team mates get beat 4-0 by an average Scottish team helps JG develope his career? To think he was sat there watching that cr@p when he could have been at the Mem helping his team mates take on one of the better teams in Div 2, it really does defy logic.

At that time, I didn't realise he spent all match on the bench. International football for him must be a positive influence. He's young and still learning his trade. It can only be good to raise his game by playing in an environment of the elite. I'm (selfishly) glad he didn't make an appearance as I think we need a fully fit Jake on Saturday..

Not it makes him an attacking player in a side that needs more defensive players. That was just a bit of mischief, but I've often mused on which international sides Rovers could beat and also at what level of male football the England Women team could play. When I literally have had nothing better to do, I have watched the England women and the skill level has been very good but the men could easily beat them IMO. The physical difference, particularly at corners etc would be more than enough. The women that I know, that play football will argue about this forever. Can you remember the Tennis, when Vitas Guerilitis ( after retirement) played Venus Williams ? I know it's a different sport but it still shows how the physical part is a huge thing to overcome.

. . . and the other part is surely to get up the nose of Spain, who have reacted so badly to the formation of Gibraltar's national team that they have refused permission for their home fixtures to be played in Spain. Instead they play their home games in Portugal. Returning to purely football matters, I was surprised that Jake Gosling wasn't given a run-out last night. After all he is their all-time top scorer, but with 12 subs to choose from their manager must have been spoiled for choice. And gutless UEFA agreed to manipulate the draw so that Gibraltar and Spain weren't drawn in the same group. UEFA usually reserve this manipulation for countries engaged in armed conflict. Hope Platini goes to jail with Blatter. That made I larf

Feel it is time that the whole lot of them are kicked out maybe the Prince is the right way to go after all.

Sorry, it appealed at that moment to my idiotic sense of humour but there is something radically wrong with both these rotten organisations. What needs to happen is that the sponsors who make them powerful withdraw their sponsorship. I assume you mean Prince William ?

... I've often mused on which international sides Rovers could beat ... I vaguely remember Rovers playing and beating Zambia at Eastville in about 1977. Edit: A moment's googling shows that it was on 24th October 1978, and Rovers won 4:1. Link to front cover of programme for Rovers v Zambia

Agreed O2, here's part of Lockyer's account of playing for Wales U21 from the EP: ...Lockyer said: “It was a proud moment to pull the Wales shirt on before the game and when we were singing the national anthem I had goosebumps...
...“It was a memorable experience and an opportunity that I thought had already passed me by..."
...“The whole experience was everything I expected it to be and I learned so much in such a short space of time..."
...I am hopeful that I will get called in again because I am hungry for more of it...
...“There is a different tactical element to the game at international level as it is a bit more cat and mouse..."
...“It took me some time to get to grips with how deep we had to play to counter the way Denmark like to suck teams out and then play around them..."
...“I couldn’t understand it for the first two days, but as the game unfolded you could see how well the plan was working for us against probably one of the best teams I have ever played against...”

Thank you for posting that, I think we have a little gem developing in Tom Lockyer and it may not be too much longer before other clubs come calling. It's great to hear the pride he has in playing for his Country plus the experience he has gained from playing international football, long may that continue.

It makes you wonder if the major teams should just walk away from FIFA and start all over again but I've no idea if they would be willing to do that or how they would go about it.

It's happened in other sports (specifically darts) although not aware of the history and motives.
Sponsors are the key.
The problem is our own fa doesn't hold democracy, so may be just as corruptible, according to that documentary Mike Bassett (haha!)

For some strange reason we climbed the fences on the Tote to get on the pitch at the end.

Hooligans! I watched it from the Muller Road end. There weren't many away fans that day.

It was hard work clambering over though.

"It was hard work clambering over though." Well, it would have been for you, Rex. Those fences were knee-high to a pygmy, after all.
