All that happened was Gosling didn't know what he was doing at right wing back, so he hovered between defence and midfield contributing absolutely nothing. Clarke recognised this and swapped him with Sinclair at half time. No change in formation, just a temporary loss of shape. A temporary loss of shape to 4-4-2? I agree. Shall I send you the address for specsavers? A loss of shape to 3-(1)-4-2 with the brackets indicating Gosling's ineffectiveness.

In the game I went to yesterday ... Gos came on for Leadbitter, playing right wing before half-time, with James Clarke moving over to right back, as evidenced by him taking throw-ins in the opposition half.

That's not evidence of anything! Clarke did cover for Gosling, undoubtedly, but that was because he wasn't doing his job, not because the formation had changed.

You are not only wrong but are making a bit a fool of yourself trying to defend your view. If you need "proof" listen to DCs interview. He quite clearly states we went to 442, lost a bit of control so went back to 352. And that's what everyone else seems to have seen.

Knew the Latvian would be on here disputing the fact that the right sided player normally takes the throwins (well unless the throwin is on the left). Why can't people just accept that DC is a normal person who makes mistakes. Thankfully DC realised his mistake at halftime and corrected it. Well done DC.

Clarke didn't want to criticise Gosling, that's all. There was no change at all on the left hand side while Gosling was pottering about in no man's land on the right.

Clarke regularly takes throw ins while Leadbitter is on the pitch. This is because he can throw it further. So its not a giant leap in logic to assume he can also throw it further than Gosling.
