I had reservations about him signing for us going by reports from Hartlepool, but to be honest i'd not really heard of him or ever seen him play. I'm not angry, just find what he did pathetic and immature, Norwood did the same last summer, some of these 4th/5th tier players just can't handle the attention. Btw i only read twitter and don't have an account, but from what i read i think it was mainly younger gasheads getting excited & tweeting him. He could have easily said no i'm not signing for Rovers or ignore the tweets, just my opinion though, it will interesting to see how he gets on at Yeovil with Paul Sturrock in charge who IMO is a top manager. Fair play, he could go one way or another by the sounds of it. Has made no secret of the fact that he wants to return to this neck of the woods so I guess I don't blame some fans for getting ahead of themselves and thinking he was heading your way. Still at least you won't have to wait for too long before you get the chance to see him. First home game for us is against you lot. Seems like Sturrock has a massive rebuilding job at your place, how many more players are you looking to sign? Could well be going head to head on other possible signings, particularity players who want to move to southwest/south wales.

A bullet dodged? Would you be so anti-him if he'd signed for you? Why did he get attention from a load of Gasheads? Did some of you put two and two together and get five? Life's too short to get angry at a footballer having a bit of fun on Twitter, if that's what he was doing. I know, almost as sad as holding up a sign at a footie match eh?

Ronnie Moore not very complimentary about him. Doesn't fit the profile of most DC targets. Not a miss I'm concerned about, if it was a miss which I doubt.

To be fair to the guy, he just favourited a few Tweets (maybe he would have liked to sign for us), whereas Norwood was posting pictures of a Sat Nav screen which indicated that he was heading towards Bristol to sign a contract, plus a few other misleading pics, which I can't remember the details of. It was a total wind-up throughout the day. I don't think that is what DC would want Compton in the dressing room, particularly with Monkey gone, so I'm not at all disappointed that he's signed for Yeovil.

All this talk of DC, Norwood and Compton is sounding like a bad rap. West West y'all.

Sturrock has said he's signed eleven players at the moment but given that we were left with six players in May (two of which were only offered contracts and hadn't accepted them), I'd imagine he will want 14-15 at least. Agree that we might be going head to head on some of them though.

I have no particular feelings one way or another. I do find it slightly interesting that Yeovil signed him on a 1 year deal though. That seems a slightly odd for a guy who is in his prime. If the best he could get from anyone was a 1 year contract it does rather suggest that it isn't just Ronnie Moore who has doubts about his commitment. Who care what a player puts on twitter.....

I honestly couldn't care less that a player I'd never heard of until he was linked with us has signed for someone else instead.
But I hope he gets more respect from his new manager than he did from his last one.

But I hope he gets more respect from his new manager than he did from his last one. I assume by that remark, you mean his comments about needing to see a psychiatrist. If so, you are spot on... can't help a player when his manager comes out and says he needs help mentally.... Ronnie Moore has past offences for being disrespectful. When he was Rotherham manager a decade or so ago, we drew them away in the FA Cup; they were in the Championship and we were League Two. He came out in the buildup to the game and said "we should be beating teams like Yeovil" and ended up having his words pinned to the dressing room wall and Yeovil winning 3-0. The bloke is an oaf albeit a half decent football manager.

It could well be similar to our "1 year" contract offers could well be extended to 2 years if he plays sufficent games, regardless you can't blame him taking any offer to get away from the NE! As far as signing wroung uns if DC had released Harrison or Parkes last summer no doubt he wouldn't have been praising them at the time but with a bit of disapline they've turned things around.

Yes- I would suggest that publicly saying that a player needs professional help could be considered tantamount to bullying and goes way beyond what is acceptable. Sounds like he was covering his backside for letting a popular player walk. I am still surprised the best he could get was a 1 year deal at this time though irrespective of increments etc. It's the kind of contract you normally see offered to veterans or guys who are signed mid-season on a free, not a key signing in June. Just seems a bit strange to me is all. It suggests that Moore's sentiments are shared or at least others have taken note of them. If I was the Crompton I think I might be talking to a lawyer right now because it is possible that Moore's comments have driven down his value.
