Ah well that's Barnet back in the Conference then Won't be surprised, he doesnt seem to stay anywhere too long, bit like the Littlest Hobo. Amusing to see Barnet fans quoting Akinde's value at 1 million, they should cash in now before they see he is a football league flop, even Rendell is prolific in this league!

TBF Akinde has probably matured a lot though. Rendell is on the downward side of his career. £1m is probably because non-lge teams have seen people like Lee Gregory, Andre Gray, and jamie Vardy go for big bucks in recent seasons and assume everyone will get that. And in previous years Lge 2 sides have got close to a million for people like Tyrone Barnett and Matt Tubbs. I think I remember some awful Lge 2 team even getting £1.5m for someone called Ellington...

Was told yesterday that it looks like he is on his way to Portsmouth... as much as I dislike a MINORITY of Barnet fans who have been complete arses on their forum, I dislike Pompey far more for going bust, and still paying silly wages for abject failure. If Allen went there he will only have himself to blame when he's mid to low table, and barnet are scrapping for the play-offs.

Allen has been linked with Pompey, Leeds and Brentford. He's currently in Benidorm with the Barnet chairman and players.

BTW - ANY manager who gets a promotion is hot property.
be careful not to be too smug. IF, yes, big IF, DC gets us promoted he will be wanted by many clubs!

I think he's fallen in love with our club this season. Not many in the bottom 2 leagues can match our pulling power for crowds, couple this with a group of players proud to wear the quarters, he must have a good shout of a playoff push in league 2. Plus we have a few seasons grace on FFP if we get back into the league.

But it does beg the question, if Benidorm is the 'reward' for promotion, what punishment would the players have endured for not getting out of this division?

Absolutely scandalous Even Michael Poke(Had a loan spell with us a few years back) is on over £2,000 per week and hasn't even played a game for them. If they are true, accurate reflections of what they are actually earning then that is disgusting.

The period between now and the start of next season will be absolutely fascinating on several fronts, but top of the list must be who the manager will be here next season. If we do achieve promotion, then as you say he will most likely be the target of several clubs. And the fact that his contract is up for renewal adds spice to the situation. Without getting too deep into it all, I think that if we are still a Conference club next year then DC will still be the manager here. But if we were to return to the Football League, then I wouldn't be so confident. Don't forget that it was only in the last close-season that the Chairman gave a grudging thumbs-up to the manager, by stating that he had one more year to run on his contract. I do wonder if there have been any provisional talks held behind the scenes, or if the matter is on hold. But thing is for certain, that the manager is in a good position.

You have to applaud the job Allen has done at Barnet this season and his long-term connections with the club may mean he stays there. On the other hand, this is his 4th spell at the club, which might suggest he has always been on the lookout for something bigger if not better. Despite the tactics that he has employed (especially against us at the Hive), he's been very dignified towards our club - unlike many others.
If he does leave Barnet, a spell at Portsmouth could be just what that club needs. Free from the interference of others, he builds effective teams who play effective, if not spectacular football. If he goes there, I'd happily predict that Portsmouth would be promoted by the end of 2015-16
Leeds would be worth a watch, but I'll be honest, it would probably be explosive and not last long. I can't see the Chairman / Manager relationship working out there as Allen needs to be left alone to get on with the job.
I thought Gianfranco Zola was nailed on for Brentford?

Visit to traston gate . . . or even Severn Beach perhaps? But all of this idle speculation about his future is pointless, he's coming here . . . isn't he?
