Could be worth putting on the Southend forums as we'll, they love them just as much as us!! ? What about posting on the tesco facebook page as well? ? If everyone could post the link wherever they think it will get more supporters that would be great! Facebook pages, timelines, Facebook groups, forums, Twitter etc. Coming up to 50,000 social reach now.

Rich, is there a way to support this but only allow it to go to certain friends on my list? The reason I ask is there are some on my friends list that I would love this to go to (due to my campaigning on the pub issue, there are some big hitters as in senior MP's) however I have at least twelve friends (four in store management positions) within sainsbury's and I would hate it to go to them (putting our friendship in jeopardy, and maybe their employment). If it is not possible I will copy and paste it to the ones I feel could help the most.

Is there anyway to get the players involved in this, if any of them are good mates with Premiership players (who sometimes have hundreds of thousands of followers) could be another approach to get it out there. What about some of the other clubs we've supported with their campaigns too like Hereford United, Salisbury City etc ?

Support from accounts with a large amount of followers will increase our reach massively. If everyone could tweet a message including the link asking people to sign up to any footballers/clubs/celebrity gasheads that will help a lot. I've reached my twitter limit for 24 hours! We've now got to 244 supporters with a social reach of just under 70,000.

With Twitter I presume it's all or nothing and on Facebook it's either public or just to friends (I think). Might be better just to share the link yourself with a select few!

My understanding of this - and someone please correct me if I'm wrong - is that your social media 'friends' don't get sent a message, it's just that everyone that signs up has the message as their 'status update', which should hit your friends newsfeeds.
I think it's a good idea because if you just asked people to put a certain status update you wouldn't get so many joining in, and this is a bit hit at the same time, rather than over a passage of a few days.
I don't want to put a dampener on it, but there are a couple of points to make...
1/ The reach quoted is only the 'potential reach'. - Say you have 500 facebook friends. How many regularly sign in to facebook? How many of those check through the whole of their newsfeed? How many of those had their setting on 'Top Stories' and forgot to change to 'Most Recent'? - I sometimes wonder if everything my friends post hits my newsfeed. I'm sure on occasion something has hit my newesfeed when a mutual friend comments on it, and it didn't hit the newsfeed when originally posted.
2/ Facebook has this thing for grouping the same post made by more than one of your friends. Therefore, if several of your friends sign up you won't get your newsfeed full of the message; it will be just the one message with a list of those who posted it.
Overall I think it's still a big positive as it's coordinated, still has a potential big reach, and will 'trend'.

... something else to factor in about the reach is whether the message 'status update' is 'Public' or 'Friends of Friends', rather than 'Friends Only'. If either of the former then the potential reach increases. If someone 'likes', or 'comments' on it, then it could hit the newsfeeds of their friends too. And if you do 'comment' it could encourage others to comment and hence snowball the reach; so get 'liking' and 'commenting' when the message gets posted.

Overall I think it's still a big positive as it's coordinated, still has a potential big reach, and will 'trend'. You are correct on both points. Unfortunately the social reach is going to be much lower than what's stated on the site. However, on your second point, if more people are sharing the same link, it's more likely to be a 'top story' on other peoples timelines. Hopefully if we get enough people supporting it, the hashtag will trend so other members of the public can see it and local news may pick up on it (I've already highlighted it to a few). Keep signing up and sharing so we can keep improving the reach. Even if we only get 10-20% of the overall figure it should have some effect. I'll be able to share some statistics/analytics so we can see how successful it was after being posted!

It would be good if it trended so that it hit a google link aswell.
May even attempt to tweet the bbc sport and skysports twitter accounts to get some publicity on this. Its all worth a try

Here's a dummy tweet you can use to send to various twitter accounts - Please help @official_BRFC Support the 'Play Fair' Thunderclap to raise awareness & pressure Sainsburys thndr.it/1CKHWgc It would be great if a few of us could do this to try and get maximum exposure. Think of footballers/ex-footballers, other gasheads, celebrities, pundits, commentators, club accounts, unofficial club accounts, general football accounts etc. Candidates in upcoming Elections could also be good to target (looking for publicity & support themselves). I've already tweeted a few by looking on yournextmp.com/ for their twitter handle. Got a few retweets from various candidates!
