Bristol City fans have been involved in six altercations with the police in the last two seasons, compared to just one by a Bristol Rovers supporter.
A Freedom of Information (FoI) request to the British Transport Police (BTP) showed there were 1,027 football-related disturbances on trains as fans travel to home and away games between the 2012/13 and the 2013/14 seasons.
The BTP has a newly-formed department that records statistics specifically to football-related crimes.
According to the FoI, Bristol City fans tangled with officers in six incidents, compared to just the one incident with a Bristol Rovers supporter
The FoI detailed nearly all Football League clubs in the UK, with Leeds United coming up top with 77 incidents.
Birmingham City came second with 40 incidents, with Manchester United and Rangers fans both recording 36 incidents each.
Nottingham Forest and Manchester City completed the top five, with 35 and 30 incidents respectively.
A spokesman for the BTP said a small minority of fans "engage in violence"

It is only a small minority, but it's the large majority that suffers with closed bars on trains, no alcohol on trains, police escorts on the train and to and from games, early kick offs etc etc. Hit the miscreants hard for the sake of those who want to travel in peace with (or without) a beer.

What's more, it's convictions that count, not 'incidents'. Plenty of entirely innocent people end up entangled with plod. Years ago some BTP attempted to chuck my lot off a train at Oxford because we'd been singing. I was all set for a heated discussion when the train manager bailed us out to say we'd been rowdy but not any trouble

In the teds defence ive often over the years, mostly before cctv found that mr plod likes to start trouble and not just at football, plenty in the met liked a fight on saturday afternoon, let alone cardiff and west midlands thugs, some places they were worse than the "firm" happy days

It's only very loosely Rovers related.

So, it's acceptable to be rowdy on a train?

So, it's acceptable to be rowdy on a train? We were singing great music hall hits. Songs from the shows. Not really anything the BTP needed to trouble themselves with tbh

And the other, non-football travellers/customers?

I really don't have to explain myself to you two There was one other person in the carriage. I can well remember the numbers we did. "Wonderful Wizard of Oz", "Food Glorious Food", "Step Inside". We were excellent. This forum is almost as much fun sometimes you little tinkers

This forum is almost as much fun sometimes you little tinkers Lets put it this way, what may have been innocent fun to you in the carriage (and I'm sure it was and you meant no harm) may not have been seen that way by the other person in the carriage who may have been hoping for a relatively peaceful journey home. When you buy a train ticket for a journey you don't normally expect to get entertainment thrown in as well

I was going to be Rex but then I heard you'd be doing your medley of "songs from the rugby showers" so I preferred to walk back. Got in yesterday.
