I see our last 5 games after Macclesfield all winnable! I'm confident if we get 3 points sat then we will win it!

Beating Macclesfield Saturday will send a huge message to the entire league, let alone Barnet & Grimsby!

Should we fall short of top spot I do worry about a 2 leg game vs someone like Eastleigh or Forest Green having beaten neither home or away this season. Clearly I would like to finish in top spot (and I think that we can by the way), but like you I am concerned at the prospect of a two-legged game against either of those two teams, particularly with our record against them both this season. On the positive side our record against Grimsby is much better though. Toni Wattola may be rubbing his hands in anticipation of a few extra high revenue games this season, but he's on his own as far as I'm concerned. We're rapidly reaching the part of the season where chickens are coming home to roost, and our particular chickens this season was an inability to turn one point into three points on a more regular basis, due mainly to an inability on our part to score more than none or one goal per game on a regular basis. But looking at the last few games of the regular season I am still optimistic that we can do it first time, but draws are of little use to us now, I think. I believe that we have a very strong squad of players, who apart from two (I believe) are all match fit. Significantly we have seen the return of Jermaine Easter to the squad, plus the addition of Chris Lines. If the manager is able to add one or two more to the squad this week, he and the BoD will have done all that they can do at this stage of the season. It'll all be down to the players . . . and results.

Can't see how there games are much easier than ours, or Barnets. On paper we should all win most of the games. If we win 5 out of 6 then they would have to win all there games. Concentrate on our own games, it's in our hands to finish above them.
Barnet are the major worry as we can win 6 out of 6 but will still need them to drop points.

But can any of us honestly see Barnet winning all 6 games after their recent run of poor results? If they do fair play to them as they will have been the best side all season.
Odd as it seems finishing 3rd may be a better option than 2nd as I'd fancy our chances V Macc rather than FGR or the resurgent Woking/falling Eatleigh.

Grimsby result last night is irrelevant. if anything it gives us some confidence that we could win our game there, and that Dover will be mid-table boredom by the time we face them.
TBF if they manage to get over us and barnet, considering both of us have relatively easy run-ins [compared to what they could be!] they deserve the title.
I don't think they have a hope in hell though.
and if they can't, then it's play-offs for 2 out of the 3 of us. So nothing new there.
PERSONALLY, I really think we could win all our 6, and we might need to! I'm not saying we don't have a few toughies (macc will be a test, and ALL other 5 will be pressurised) but we could do it. And I'd prefer to have Dover away, with 3,000 Gas and Dover with nothing to play for, rather than Alfreton and Dartford away before the relegation matters are settled, and experienced mid to high table teams like Halifax and Gateshead at home.
Sticking my neck out...
I think Alfreton and Dover will be in safe boredom by the time we play. Both will be very tight matches though.
Kiddie will continue their amazing slide, and both us and Barnet will win there.
By the time we play Southport they will be safe or almost safe, and could be missing several first team regulars. we have to win it, and will.
Chester will be tight but Barnet at home to Nuneaton so we have to win it, and will.
We can beat macc. If we win, I think we will the title.

It is very important that we win our next three games and stay within a point of Barnet because if we do that then I would rather have our last three games than theirs. Trouble is that in truth we cannot afford to slip up at all. i don't go with anyone who says we cant win the play off whoever we play although my least favourite team to play would be Eastleigh. I see no reason why we can't beat Forest Green as we should have beaten them in both games, they rode their luck in both games and at our place I believe we played for large parts with 10 players and still were well on top.

We are now level on points in form charts, one goal separating us top, from 8matches.
To be fair, they've hit tougher wins and have found form now (as opposed to us, whom gave rarely been out of top 3this year).
Fair play to them. I'm glad they have found form as they beat teams around us, most notably, Barnet.
The big stat is, they've lost 9 matches. That's important. It shows they are not invincible by any means and maybe not mentally tough enough.
I agree with theory concentrate on ourselves. If we can win our games, everything will take care of themselves.
Barnet and Grimsby will no doubt be saying the same....but with 10 and 9 games lost this season respectively, I'm guessing they wont be as confident as us.

Why wouldn't they be equally confident, they know they can always score before Friday scoring goals has been our problem all season.
Regardless it could all come down now as to who gets the lucky breaks.

As in losing a quarter of matches. Our scoring issue (which I agree with you) has seen us propelled to 2nd place....if Easter stays fit and suspension free, I think its a fair to say we are ideally placed to consign that to the past..

If we had this team at the start of the season we would've pissed this league and promoted already,I don't fear any other of the sides if we get in the play offs I think they will fear us more and the support we will get especially at wembley It's right all teams that play us do step up there game but when it's the pressure of the play offs they will crack,we brought in experienced players for this situation and I rkn they will Can see us winning the 6 games but got a funny feeling Barnet will too, hopefully Gateshead need a win for the play offs the last game and we cruise v alfreton what a day that would be:) utg

Problem is we didn't have this team at the start, either DC got it wrong, or NH didn't give him sufficient transfer funds. Although like Gow last season when we did bring in a quality striker he soon picked up an injury!

For anyone whom knows him or is aware, Grim signs Chappell on loan from Torquay Utd til end of season. A winger.
He was subbed here at Mem, can't remember him..
Anyone shed any light on his ability?

Although like Gow last season when we did bring in a quality striker he soon picked up an injury! But at the start of the season we would not have had a chance of getting Easter. LDV got injured. Understand your question but sometimes the manager can only go with what is available in his budget.

It's very easy for us to say but if Barnet slip up (either lose or draw) we must be in a position to take advantage. We've already had that opportunity once and weren't able to take that advantage i.e. they lost at home to FGR and we also lost at home to Eastleigh. Lets hope the next time we don't regret not taking that opportunity.....UTG !

Absolutely, the difference LDV made to us with his playing style and creativity was immediate and was a cruel blow when we lost him to injury. We've not really replaced him or produced that style of play since. Would be brilliant if we could get him back until the end of the season.
