...about a fifth of the one on one chances he's had. Taylor challenged the goalie for Easter's goal, scored one and then set up Monkhouse for his goal but still posters have to have a dig, it's all a bit odd. Taylor's goal was a difficult finish, Easter's goal was a clinical finish which I'm not convinced Taylor would have converted so maybe Easter's arrival will provide an inspiration for Taylor to improve ?

I actually thought Easter's play to set up Monkhouse's goal was the best bit of those highlights. Strong and intelligent football. Every goals a good goal.

I hope so, I really do, especially as DC nearly always picks him.

'Its like Eastville in the Seventies' :-)
Great Gas goals, especially the last two
Highlights make the defence look a bit wayward though

OK I just don't get this.
Every time I've watched Rovers play this season I felt everything good that we did going forward went through Matt Taylor in some way. It seems to me as though he is our key playmaker. He holds up the ball, brings players into the game, makes clever little runs and generally seems to dictate our play in the last 3rd. I find him a really interesting player to watch. He has scored 13 goals in 39 league games which is an OK return for a second striker and he seems to be one of our main providers of assists. Yet he still gets more stick than any other player.
I find it odd that one of the criticisms of him is that he's a kind of headless chicken. I don't see that at all. Yes, he works very hard but I think he's a really intelligent player who reads the game very well and is always trying to get involved. What he clearly isn't is a natural goalscorer but that's OK. People get stuck in this 'defenders stop goals', 'midfielders make goals', 'striker score goals' mentality. It's not necessarily true - Brazil has built a footballing culture off the idea of the number 10 who is a playmaking centre forward who doesn't necessarily score that many goals. I think people are criticising Taylor for not being something that he isn't. If we've had a problem this year it's not been Matt Taylor, he's averaged 1 goal in 3 which is OK for a second striker so it's not like he doesn't have a goal in him. The problem has been that we haven't put a guy alongside him who is an out an out goalscoring centre forward - that's not Matt Taylor's fault, he's done his job which is to make us tick. I'd like to see him have a run alongside Easter and see what happens then.
But I honestly really enjoy watching Taylor - I think he's a fun player to watch. I don't think he'd do particularly well in League 2 because I think he'd find it harder to find the space he needs and might get outmuscled but I like his game a lot.

I enjoyed the highlights video, but I particularly enjoyed Matty Taylor's goal. Not only did it ''kill'' the game in our favour, but I thought that it was extremely skillful as well.
That's not to knock the other two goals mind you.

Three very good team goals for Rovers. They played some decent stuff Friday night on a very good pitch. Taylor played well again and worked tirelessly as he always does. Parkes my MOM again.

Chester supporters loved him, and were very upset when FGR ended his loan spell. He kept them in the Conference last year.
God knows why FGR allowed him to leave. He would be just what they need now, playing off of John Parkin. I guess it's because he wasn't one of Adie Pennock's signings.
Anyway - FGR's loss is our gain - and long may he continue.
