I visited St Paulis ground whilst in Hamburg a couple of years ago. Shame it was during the summer and there was no match on, had a look around though and bought some pirate related tat! Including a duck for the bath, in black with a skull/crossbones on his chest. Pure class! That duck looks brill on their website. A gift suitable for all ages

Left wing, I'll grant you, but I trust you were being ironic with the racists bit? Anti-racism is one of the main principles behind St Pauli

I think they are showing us the way here. I think our Pirate heritage is sadly underexploited I'm no historian, but I'd venture to suggest more pirates came from Bristol than from Hamburg........well not after the formation of the Hanseatic League.

Really? I know a few St Pauli fans through my Celtic links, and I can promise you if there is any club where racism is not tolerated it's St Pauli.
I'm not too sure how well the 'Gasgers' flag would go down at the Millentor either. Much as I dislike Rangers I am aware it seems quite a few Gas have a soft spot for them, so I offer my congratulations on your recent draw with Alloa, and once Hearts and Hibs are out of the way next season, I quite fancy your chances of making the play offs

That draw with Cowdenbeath wasn't bad either, especially with Cowden coming into it off the back of their triumphant display at Tynecastle

Far from it. St Pauli pride them selves on being the family friendly club, anti nazi anti violence. I used to watch St Pauli back in the early 80s when stationed in Germany. My girlfriend supported St Pauli so I tagged along. In those days the bad side of football was showing its face. HSV the main club in Hamburg had a reputation for hooliganism, real football fans of Hamburg started following St Pauli, the atmosphere at St pauli games was friendy and visiting fans were welcomed. The association towards Celtic so I was told stems from the 50s and 60s when a Scottish regiment was stationed near by and many soldiers went to the games who were mainly Celtic fans back home. I had many a good day with the St Pauli fans and was always made welcome, especially being a Rovers fan and a supporter of a lower league English team. A break up with the girlfriend and a posting to the Ruhr area I started watching Shalke 04 witch was completely different,I traveled back to Hamburg for a few games as I missed the atmosphere.

I think the left wing racists was suggested as some feel some anti Nazi organisations and movements can be populated with political ideologies which paint certain groups as perpetrators based on their race and actions of their ancestors, and thereby seek to disempower these groups based on this, which is fundamentally racist in itself. These groups will often overlook the actions of certain cultures and groups and apply lesser standards to them, based of the historic disempowerment of their racial ancestors. Misogyny, for instance, is pinned on western capitalism in these groups, despite western capitalist countries providing a beacon to the world in equality and equal rights. Other events, like the armenian genocide, are overlooked as it doesn't fit the mould of what they think racists look like....racists all look the same way to these people...they are usually white, working class and heterosexual. You couldn't make it up.
I'm sure this isn't what st Pauli are about but I have met enough "anti racists" in my time to know what the earlier poster meant.
