I can't believe any club would want Halifax playing on their pitch, unless Halifax are offering a big compensation payment. I somehow don't think Halifax have got loads of spare cash to rent another ground at short notice.

Hope not in doubt! Although their home match was postponed last Tuesday night.
They did play Feb 14 & 21 at home, so hoping weather will be a bit better a month on to help pitch recuperate...??

Halifax played against Dartford in the Trophy at Droylesdon fc on the 7th feb and in the past have used Rochdales's spotland in feb 2013 due to pitch issues!

Halifax is near to Burnley, but Bradford and Leeds and Huddersfield aren't that far away. Glad I read this as I was going to Halifax,I will wait and see whats decided first. Lol Halifax is nowhere near Burnley , Burnley is in Lancashire and Halifax is in Yorkshire for a start they've got to be an hour apart I would've thought , Huddersfield is the neighbouring town and a lot closer.

Well it is quite near, only about half a hour away. I doubt a Premier League club will bother though, Bradford's pitch also isn't the best. Rochdale probably the best bet.

Possibly Rochdale but that's about the same distance as Burnley and both about an hour away , Huddersfield as long as they're away would be the best bet as it 15 minutes away

M62, off at the Milnrow junction and job's a good un. Went out with a Milnrow girl for a year hence the reason I know. EDIT: The Shay to Spotland in 30 minutes Taa-daa. Huddersfield probably won't be too keen either.

'Nowhere near' ? its 20miles,I think that's quite near as for being in different counties the war of the roses finished a long time ok so that should be alright. BTW nothing was mentioned about the nearest ground, the Halifax supporters mentioned Oldham and that's Lancashire too,and the distance is 26 miles .

Very impressive countryside though.

Yep - there's not a great deal between that part of Yorkshire and East Lancs and transport links are pretty good both on train and car. That's why those grounds have been rumoured. Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield really don't like each other very much and I think it's unlikely those clubs would do Halifax a favour particularly as Bradford have their own pitch issues and Huddersfield don't really need the hassle and have a Rugby League team to accomodate on their pitch too. Oldham and Rochdale would be the most likely alternatives.

Curious as to why Odsal isn't considered, as it's only 7 miles from the Shay. Not up to Non-League football standard? Safety?

I think that Rochdale or Oldham ( or Bury ?) would be best for Rovers too,the further west of Halifax the better, makes it easier for our supporters and harder for theirs. In fact if we take 400 we would probably have as many as them in the ground, although these days with the lack of singing and chanting at matches I don't know if that makes much diference.

I worked on the pitch at Eastville for a fortnight in the mid 70s,we had to put planks into the penalty area to fork them, lots of pitches were muddy then funny how the football seemed better though.

Blimey !! I remember watching a succession of goalkeepers get so caked in mud that I honestly felt sorry for them. Yes mate, it did seem better and I believe it was better even now. One word, WINGERS !!

One word, WINGERS !! Maybe Rovers should insist on playing on the Halifax mudbath and stick Dawson and Balanta on the wings ?..trouble is back in the day we had centre forwards who could jump and head the ball powerfully and accurately..not any more, surely finding an old fashioned centre forward should be quite simple ?.
