Imagine being as old as these dudes & being that angry in life, you still have to go out looking for a scrap on a match day.
What's wrong with a Doobie, 3 points & a White Russian??

Personally know the fella and he's a good lad and does a lot of work with youth development at Henbury , shouldn't be so hard to judge mate it's not as if he's a nonce whereas the judge rather ironically who administered punishment for these 82er fans and ours that were nicked in fact let a convicted sex offender off last January with a suspended sentence ,an offender with 40 previous convictions of downloading noncing amongst other things, let's put things into perspective here. Your bar for 'a good lad' appears me to be 'not a nonce'. Its not the highest, really he's a good lad ....... Hmmm wonder how a 'bad lad' would be defined in your dictionary ..... sorry but with respect to you that is unbelievable!

But a load of the City fans I know said they had no hooligans and said we were a club full of thugs. I'm confused.

"The seven men, including the chairman of a youth football club in Henbury"
Haha one of my first ever football matches, when I was about 8 years old, was for Bristol Rovers Supporters Club against Henbury Colts; all I remember from it is a grown man saying to me something like "take that top off so I can wipe my bum with it" I immediately burst in to tears, which the group of 2 or 3 men found quite funny, although they weren't laughing when my tiny 5ft Mum tore the bloke to shreds in front of his chums and son.

"It further prevents them from going within 1,000 metres of Bristol Rovers' ground when Bristol City play there."
What chance is there of this occurring any time soon?

Leaving aside the rivalry - 2 yr suspended sentence for throwing a can?
Said it before and I'll say it again: the punishments given out for fighting at football do not fit the crimes. They are politically motivated, a lot like the sentences for the August 2011 riots were.
Not a popular thing to say, but true all the same.

Here we go again people being overly worried about the 'injustice' of how some are treated although to be fair I can understand the concern over comparative sentencing generally
However you need to be in amongst the trouble to get into trouble with the police / authorities - some people just cant control themselves and some go clearly looking for it!
I have supported Rovers for nearly 50 years and in that time I have not got into trouble inside or outside football grounds but been frequently alarmed at the so called 'antics' of some both home and away
Do I cheer, sing and support yes ..... do I get frustrated and negative on occasions yes .....have ever insulted someone at a game or physically threatened them ..no Does that make me any 'poorer' as a supporter ...no IMO

Come come. Surely no one believes that these knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers will actually turn up?
Do they?

He wasn't throwing a can in a field in the middle of nowhere. It was an act of aggression towards another person at a time and place where such an action could have a snowball like consequence. Some call it politically motivated others call it getting the desired effect.

However, trying to attack a taxi, and kicking off in an area where there are other people who are not of the same mindset, deserves a knock on the door. Would those guys be happy if their children/grandchildren (assuming they have any) were walking along the road, or travelling past in a car when something like this happened? Probably not. It's a myth to think that people who don't go looking for trouble are not affected when it kicks off, it doesn't equate that it's fine as long as an innocent bystander doesn't get a slap.
