I presume once West Ham relocate to the Olympic stadium trampling all over Orient's support that they will be equally reviled? Um, I doubt it. Who mentioned hypocrisy? West Ham are moving stadium, not purchasing another club, changing their name and rebranding them. Despite what Barry Hearn will have you beleive, Stratford is hardly an Orient stronghold. There's more Spurs fans in Stratford than Orient, and certainly more WHU fans there.

Because they violated the fundamental principle of English football which is everyone's right to dream the dream and to earn in it properly. Whether you are Manchester United or Keynsham Town you are in a system where in theory you could rise right to the top of Premiership. That's not the case in other sports or in other countries and it gives English football it it's special flavour and unique depth; we don't have a franchise system we have one grounded in communities. MK Dons took a short cut. There was nothing to stop the people who run MK Dons taking over or founding a club in Milton Keynes and rising them up through the leagues - it's what everybody else does. Instead they stole somebody else's club. I don't think people do let the Football League or the FA off but they also hammer the people who set up MK Dons for being selfish chancers who trampled all over English footballing tradition. There's this myth of Wimbledon fans abandoning the club - the club abandoned them first. They only stopped going on mass when it became clear that the owners were trying to move them out of London and they didn't want to put money in their pockets to help facilitate that. Steve Lansdowne wants a Premiership Club in Bristol and he is wealthy enough to buy one. So the equivalent would be if he bought West Brom, moved them to Bristol built a brand new stadium for his new club (Bristol WBA) and folded City. He doesn't do that, and nor does anybody else, because he has some respect for that culture of English football. That's the way it works in all Sports work in the US - that's why MK Dons will be forever Franchise FC. Sorry but your analogy falls down on costs. Why spend hundred million or more buying WBA instead of spending on the club you own? Wimbledon were picked up for a song and saved years in getting to the same level. The whole of football has sold its soul for the money, the MK Dons people are just the logical development of selling that soul. You and I may not agree with that but the MK Dons story is no more hideous than Abramovich buying Chelsea's place at the top of the table or the sheikhs at Man City. Of course its different. If that Winkleman bloke had pumped his money into Wimbledon and kept them in London, I am sure nobody would bat an eyelid, but the fact is, as Irish rightly pointed out he didn't, he ruined a club and moved them miles away to a seperate town, and they even have a cheek to keep Wimbledons nickname which is an absolute disgrace Comparing it to Chelsea and Man City is bonkers Both of those are/were established clubs who have won major trophies throughout their history. Also every succesful club is bankrolled through rich owners, Liverpool were bankrolled by the Moores family who were the richest people in football at the time, its no coincidence that their success has dried up since they stepped down MK Dons are a completely different kettle of fish entirely

They already trample on Orients support, because they are a far bigger club, and have always been far better supported than Orient London is a huge metropolis

Ah, I get the moral of the thread - don't complain about the rules that allow this to happen, just complain about those smart enough to take advantage of those rules. That should ensure a Wimbledon situation can never happen again. My head is back firmly in the sand.

That should ensure a Wimbledon situation can never happen again. My head is back firmly in the sand. Why can't you complain about both? Ie. Complain about crap governance rules and about owners who think that morality and principle are defined by what you can get away with irrespective of how much damage it does to others. In fact, I think the fuss fans about this made the FA change their rules in this area to ensure it couldn't happen again - in theory at least.
