What is it with or board and cosying up to the local tories? First that Charlotte Leslie and now Sajid Javid guy, just seen some report on the local news, just another example of how they are alienating their working class fanbase, explains why there out of touch they are in terms of prices and selling overpriced s***. BOD gone down even further in my estimation.

what do you mean? Like poo as in a 'ted? If so I don't get why that post would make me that??? That's the sort of thing that used to really annoy me about the Official Forum any viewpoint not agreed with and you'd instantly get called a city fan. I find it weird how some people seem to think that they are kinda the authority on the club, makes me think why would I want support club when my fellow fans have that kind of attitude. The first game I went to was in 1990 against Charlton. I dont go to every game, about ten a season, mainly because of what I can afford, but im sure there's plenty of people that bang on and on on this forum that go to less games than me. I dunno annoys me when people have to question your level of fanship, makes me think it's obviously not my club, I'm not welcome, so I might as well go somewhere else to be honest. Why try and drive fans away but acting like this, surely the more fans, the higher gates etc etc, the better for the club. Anyway fair play to Strung Out for not deleting the post, on the official forum that was done often enough.

Listen comrade. Sajid Javid is the secretary of state for culture media and sport. He has the say so in whether Carstairs ridiculous appeal on the EH listing of the mem is upheld or rejected. That is why Charlotte Lesley had him come to the Mem on his trip to Bristol. I'm a card carrying, labour voting union member, but fair play to Charlotte, she is sticking with this one. BTW Sajid Javid grew up on Stapleton Road and has declared himself a Gashead. Don't want to count any chickens, but Carstairs has Bob and No hope.

Well, as the Tories are in power at the moment they'd be the ones to be talking to about getting things moved along. I'm sure if Labour were in power they'd be talking to them. I don't really see an issue with that. I haven't been to a match for years. Last game for me was 12 years ago. I did fly from Australia for the Huddersfield game at Wembley though. Am I still a fan? I think so. I do own five shares in the club too. Overpriced? You could be right. I don't know. I know it's a lot more than I pay to see my local team here play.

Isn't it sad when people bring politics into it. Ok. Let labour run the project. Perhaps they can bankrupt this one as well. As the last two posters have said, the Tories are in power so who the hell else do you try to get onside? Answers on a postcard (UKIP voter)

Yeah I dunno wasn't the best thought out rant of mine, I just didn't get the LPGas guys attitude, surely fans should be encouraged not told to bu**ger off? If the UWE is finally built surely the more people that turn out to watch the better, even if they're news fans, old fans, casual fans, I'd much rather see the place packed out with the atmosphere electric, can't beat the feeling of packed stadium getting behind the gas.

Don't worry gastafarian. Half the grumpy buggers on here havent been to a match in years. Mind you, half of them are banned and waiting for an olive branch, or Gerry Franciscto come back as manager, or something.
None or 46 games a season, if its in the blood, its in the blood. Why else would we all put ourselves through this unending misery?

First of all, thank you for acknowledging the work of strung out, we are not like the old Official Forum, any posts that have to be edited / moderated, we will tell you straight away, so not only you but all members of the forum know they have been edited and why. As to your post a few things, Sajid was here because he has the final say on what happens, as in is the memorial stadium a national war memorial. Now I wonder who got him to come and pose for that photo? was it that local MP that has just championed the cause? what's her name oh yes that will be Charlotte Leslie, the same MP who spoke in the House of Commons and the leader of that party acknowledged her and the club. Was it worth two fans (they have my full respect) getting / helping her with that cause, well yes it was (IMHO). Every business should use every route possible! Do not get me wrong I suspect that a certain MP has used this issue to get press time, and has used their contacts to get even more attention, but at the end of the day if we get what we want are you that bothered? As for the prices, ask any of the fans in the conference play offs were they happy about the prices for the final? Sorry Bristol is an expensive city to live in (I can not come home). I am not a BOD lover but sometimes things have to be put into perspective, also a fan is a fan as far as I am concerned. 1 game is the same as going to every game.

Yeah this forum is definitely much better than the old official one, when that was in existence I didn't really look around to see what else was about, but wish I had done now. Since the OF closed I joined most of the others initially to see what they were like, but only post on this one now, def the pick of the bunch.

I'm probably biased, but I do think that this forum offers something for everyone.
If you post really pro-board stuff, then you're sure to get people disagreeing with you, but I think that's the same if you post really anti board stuff. It's better to have a good mix of posters, and hopefully we're showing some of the old OF posters that we're all capable of nuanced and grown up debate, even if a lot of us have had pretty negative experiences of the club in the past.

Charlotte Leslie is interested in votes. She is a politician with a clear agenda and a very effective spin machine. A number of people have fallen for it.

Maybe. I'm still thankful for her efforts, even though I would never vote for her party.

BRFC is the Ketamine of the masses.
Anyway, as a leftie, I have no problem with the club sucking up to the Tories to help them get what they want, even if the Tories get something back in return. It's just the way of the world. And if you don't play the game, you lose out.
Just witness the supposedly nice party, the Greens, turning into cynical and opportunistic liars over the stadium. Presumably they were always cynical and opportunistic liars, I'd just never noticed before.

If that goon gets anywhere near power we'll never be taken seriously on the international stage....

What a bitter post. Having always lived in Bristol North West Charlotte Leslie has shown more interest & actions in local issues than any previous MP whether Labour or Conservative. Probably not what some want to see in a constituency MP, they'd be happy as long as they are Labour & never show their face in their constituency.
As one of the working class fans I'm very happy to see my local MP being involved in local issues.
