Very brief and doesn't tell us anything DC hash't already told us except for the UWE news, which seems encouraging and dispels the silly rumours that it isn't going to happen: Higgs' Update
Pasted: Nick on what is happening at the Mem I would like to thank you all for your patience as we continue to work towards restructuring the club, and getting everything ready for next season. I hope you can appreciate that it is not a straightforward process, and we all strive to do the best we can for this football club. We are working closely with Darrell Clarke and we have drawn up a recruitment budget for next year, which should be very competitive for the Conference. Darrell knows exactly the sort of players he wants to bring in to the club, and we hope to announce the first new signing before the end of the week. We are also hopeful that we will be able to add another name to that before the end of next week as Darrell begins to shape his squad for next season. We have now established the costs of dropping in to the Conference, and we are producing a budget to move forward next season. Unfortunately this involves changes and redundancies at the club, but some of these were inevitable anyway following the departure of the rugby club from the Memorial Stadium. Our aim is to bounce straight back into the league next season, and we believe we are going to have a budget in place to do that. The money received from the sale of Rickie Lambert to Liverpool has obviously come as a timely boost and will help us to move forward. I know you are all desperate to hear news on the stadium redevelopment project, and I hope to be able to give you a more detailed report in the next couple of weeks. However, for now I can tell you that we are in the process of submitting the pre-commencement planning conditions to South Gloucestershire Council to clear the way for work to begin on the site. We are also working on the outstanding items with UWE. We are currently looking to finalise a couple of dates for the diary, including the Fans Forum and the annual Open Day. These will both be held in July and we will announce firm dates shortly.

Seems to have covered all the bases that have been discussed here over the last week or so.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just a statement published for the sake of making a statement? Nothing to announce, awkwardly worded in parts, banging on about budget rather than how we can actually win games and nothing about how we can build the UWE on the last announced timescale (when to do so we should (at the latest) have started building at the beginning of this week...)

In the 'process' of submitting the pre-commencement planning conditions and still sorting out details with UWE.
Surprised these details haven't been ironed out in the over a year period since PP was first granted?
And in 'process' of submitting means 'still haven't' submitted. A clever political way of saying 'we're still an undetermined amount of time away from actually submitting these docs, let alone actually start on site'
Still, it's an update at least that people have been screaming for. So fair play for that.

I have issues with certain aspects that are unclear Re: UWE, but as I say take this statement to be that the thing is finally going to get bloody built

I hope your interpretation is correct. We desperately need positive news. I think my glass is half empty in respect of the UWE hence my initial view was a cynical one. But if you're right this could be the news we've been waiting for!

So fair play for that. It might be that "submitting the pre-commencement planning conditions" means sending in a document that states that we have met pre-construction conditions laid down a while ago? (rather than agreeing first principles at this late stage). I'm no expert and it's clumsy wording but my interpretation is more positive so let's hope it's true...

There is a planning condition tracker document that runs for the duration of the project. And as you quite rightly point out there are various conditions that will have been laid down at the during the approval process. A lot of these questions cannot be addressed and finalised until the Principle Contractor (Buckingham Group) have been appointed.

Big Dave you need to leave this list. You are becoming as cynical as the rest. Nick held up a picture of the UWE (you know, the one DC shows to all new prospects) and you all believe it.
But seriously, the new stadium will not start for a while yet, so forget the start of next season. Carstairs put paid to that. Or shall we blame NH because he put Carstairs up to it?
As I said earlier it is happening at full spec, but not starting immediately. NH said the summer which I believe runs till about early Sept, so plenty of scope yet.
There is much of great interest to come shortly. So get ready to fill your boots.

Say for example the Stadium work starts in September at the very latest, and according to reports in that past it's a 62 week build. The completion date will be something like November 2015, and the stadium will be empty and not in use for 8 months. Seems to me like the timings are going to be a nightmare.

Seriously - damned for no news then damned for a statement confirming that unfortunately no real news to share! Plus feedback on grammar, wording and spelling..... On balance, in their shoes I'd say nothing until I absolutely had to

]There is much of great interest to come shortly. So get ready to fill your boots. Good news if build starts this Summer and to full spec. The above is intriguing - I assume relates to the 'takeover' talks. I appreciate that you can't say much but will this stuff of 'great interest' be positive, negative or neutral to the prospects of our club going forward in your humble opinion? I must admit to be slightly worried of talk of Greyhound interests being linked ...

I am pleased to hear Nick is back wth us and begun to kick start his one man BRFC operation. I get concerned when he starts talking about conditions, that normally means further delays. Whyh can not just speak in plain english and say the moneys in the bank from the sainsburys deal from the purchase of the MEM, the builders are starting on site at the end of June, and BRFC are definately getting promoted next season because all of the windfall money from the lambert deal is going to plowed back into the team, and Clarke has also guaranteed promotion, I do not know.
