I, like all of us, have gone through the full range of emotions supporting our amazing football club.
Me and my boy have experienced the extreme highs of a Wembley victory, to the unbelievably low depths of May 3rd 2014. I am both sad and pleased that he shared that awful experience with me. And yet, he is still proud to be a Gashead. After all the s**t that he has had to put up with he still wears the blue and white quarters with pride. I am eternally grateful for that.
Simple little things like the upcoming FIFA 15 game. He has bought that game every year and played as Bristol Rovers every time. He will not be able to do that this Christmas. A small but significant thing.
I have read so many wonderfully eloquent posts from fellow Gasheads on this new forum over the last few weeks. Such passion.
It is truly a joy and it feels me with pride to call myself a Gashead. This will never leave me no matter how much disgrace the current owners will bring to our club.
I feel the phoenix is ready to rise from the ashes, the only question is of timing. I still believe in Bristol Rovers, and they will come good. I am not sure that we have hit rock bottom yet, although I bloody hope so.
We all have a right to moan, to complain, to be angry, to be bitter. Get all those emotions out but please do not give up on Bristol Rovers. The time will come when our glorious club will need you all again.
The future custodians of BRFC will be more appreciative of the supporters, that is for sure.
Goodnight Irene, I'll see you in my dreams.

trouble is I don't have belief/pride in the 'club'
not sure about the 'team' at the moment.
so what am I left to believe in/have pride in? the fans I guess.
that's all we have left at the moment.
and hopefully we can start to be proud of our 'team' again next season.

Yes. The fans. They are the club at the end of the day.

I am a gashead always will be a gashead regardless of where we play our football be it the downs on a Sunday morning or the lofty heights of the premiership. I wear my quarters with pride.
Our board may be a bunch of incompetence morons who couldn't organisation a piss up in a brewery our pr team well they need a new career, our Web content team should really take the zx spectrum they use and throw it away for Good. Some of our players may be over the hill journey men.
But Bristol rovers is bigger than then all this, we took 40,000 + to Wembley we are one of the best supported club on the road, it's us the fans gasheads who make rovers what it is as long as this never changes then we have a fighting chance.
UTG!

Good posts. Dreadful times at the moment but once a Gashead always a Gashead.
For me it is the fans that are the heart of this club and the sooner those on high recognise this and engage with those who spend their hard earned cash on this club then there will be a glimmer of hope.

I didn't join this ride expecting to go to Heaven, and I certainly don't want to see it going to Hell. I am a Gashead by more than just plain "choice". It s destiny. So no matter how much I criticize, attack, make fun of and berate the club on dire times... I'll never give up on it. Never.
Not even if I have to download a f***ing database on Football Manager to save Bristol Rovers from Level 8 relegation.

Good post, richmace. I can empathise with an awful lot of what you post.
But remember that the club is the club, the owners are transient.

Good post this one Rich, it reminds me that there were some positives to come out of BRFC this past season, me and my son followed the Gas together attending 10 away games (probably a record for me) and 99% of the home games, we both have our tickets for the coming season, so will do it all over again.

Well that is great but you haven't lost your livelyhood as a result of the rank incompetence of those who have sleepwalked Bristol Rovers into the Football Conference.

Thanks for starting this thread Rich. I was going to start a new "very positive " thread - Are we a dying breed ?
I've been thinking a lot about what are the consequences of our terrible record of the last four seasons culminating in our relegation to The Non-League.
How many supporters have given up on Rovers over these last four seasons ? How about our kids ? Who has children on this forum who are Rovers supporters ? Will they keep going and supporting the team ?
My lad is only 7 but has been to 3 or 4 games even he felt at his tender age something really bad had happened after May 3rd. Even adults were giving him stick (saw it with my own eyes) cos he was wearing his Rovers shirt ! How many of our children will continue to support this failing club ? I find it hard to tell him we are worth it. My dad, bless him brought up 3 Gashead boys and even my sister married a Gashead ! But is that passing down of the baton continuing now ?

The Bristol Rovers spirit is moribund and has been for a few years now.

I hope that the pictures come complete with captions, because I don't think that I'll recognise most of the squad when it's finally (and fully) assembled.
