Sums up the night. Fleetwood bodies on the line and getting the rub of the green. Not a very good night at all. A real Charlie Adams team!

Well done Fleetwood, they worked hard, closed us down at every opportunity and took advantage of two shocking defensive errors As for us, it was a dire performance in dire conditions. There was simply no cohesion and a lack of effort by some. In short, a very professional performance by Fleetwood and a thoroughly unprofessional one by us. This season is officially well and truly over and as rideintothesun has said, let's secure our League status then immediately start planning for next.

Tremendous Martin - get sent off in the last minute of a game where we are 2-0 down and now miss the next three matches, negatively impacting our chances before a ball is even kicked.
This from a senior pro.
I really want to see progress, but it just seems like one step forward, two steps back.

Defending for both goals was freaking amateur, four or five players near the ball but no challenge. New players looking good but overall poor from the Gas tonight. So disappointing.

So disillusioned. After 2 really good professional performances especially the disciplined win at Exeter this is complete s**t (and yet with current version of the Gas so predictable). I have no idea where we are headed...there seems to be no ongoing idea. I know its early days with MT but after Saturday when he set us up so well to deal with Exeter tonight it looked like we thought we just had to turn up (again). Need more speed/physical presence up front apart from poor old CM (no threat to opposition)

Well, that was an experience. Torrential rain, an ice cold wind, and a 2-0 defeat. I bet, the Germans had more fun at Stalingrad.

7,385 crowd Fair play to the Fleetwood fans who trekked down in this miserable weather. 87 of them

Yeah that was poor. A string of chances in the first half with their keeper making some saves he didn’t know much about. On another night they go in.
Second half abysmal. Fleetwood wanted it more and deserved the win. Didn’t like the way we set up and too many passes going astray. Hopefully just a bad performance and new players will gel better but we’ve had a lot of these this season.

Bristol Rovers 0-2 Fleetwood Town live: player ratings vs Fleetwood Town..by Daniel Hargraves.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9079712.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_3547385.jpgi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9079918.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_3550874.jpgJed Ward - (Above) 6 Only had one or two saves to make but conceded two goals, neither of which he could do anything about. Distribution was decent considering the conditions. James Wilson (off for Josh Grant 62') - 6 Not his best outing in a Rovers shirt. There will be questions about who was responsible for marking Jayden Stockley for the corner which saw Fleetwood score their second. The first goal wasn't great either. Coming off after an hour keeps him fresh for Saturday though. Tristan Crama - 6 Not his usual colossal self in a game where he and many of his teammates looked like shadows of their usual identities. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9079928.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3550793.jpgElkan Baggott - (above) 6 Some promising signs from the tall, young defender who is evidently decent in the air. The yellow card was fair but certainly useful to have another left-footed centre-back in the squad. Jack Hunt (off for Luke Thomas 25') - N/A Hard to give the wing-back a score after lasting just 25 minutes before being withdrawn with injury. Part of a Rovers side that endured an indifferent start as Fleetwood took the lead. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9082674.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3551277.jpgKamil Conteh (Above, off for John Marquis 74') - 7 One of the Pirates' better players on the night. Tried to keep things ticking in midfield and put in some decent challenges. Really tidy on the ball. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9078839.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3550885.jpgBrandon Aguilera - (Above) 6 Showed his individual quality in nuggets but struggled to link up as fluidly as he did at Exeter City on Saturday and was knocked off the ball a fair bit by a physical Fleetwood side. One fans need to be patient with. Harvey Vale (off for George Friend 87') - 6 Looked brighter when deployed in a more advanced position but that was also at 2-0 down. Was skipped past a few times, struggling to get a foot on the ball as frequently as usual. Antony Evans - 6 A few decent deliveries from dead balls which his teammates never seemed to truly gamble for. Like all of his teammates, he's had much better days this season. Harry Vaughan (off for Lewis Gordon 62') - 6 Tricky first start for the Gas from the forward. Tricky and has a good turn of pace but was bullied off of the ball too often. Another one supporters need to be patient with. Chris Martin (sent off 90+4') - 5 His best chance ended up being offside as the linesman took forever to raise his flag. Didn't get much in way of service in what was a quiet game for the striker. The exact reasons for the two yellow cards will need to be clarified but ultimately the late sending off has scored the striker down. Substitutes: Luke Thomas (on 25') - 7 Always looked a threat when on the ball and Rover's brightest spark going forward. Made a difference when coming on but ultimately it's prevailed to nothing. Josh Grant (on 62') - 6 Came on at right-back and then was pushed into midfield late on as Matt Taylor switched the shape. Decent in spells as the Gas looked the more likely to score the game's third goal. Lewis Gordon (on 62') - 6 Similarly to Grant, a few decent moments but a difficult game to come on an affect at 2-0 down. John Marquis (on 74') - 6 Forced a decent save from Jay Lynch as he looked to make an impact from the bench. George Friend (87') - N/A Not on long enough to affect it. In all honesty it was a surprise to see him brought on.

On Harry Vaughan, has a bit of flair, but MT dropped one by selecting him tonight, too lightweight to play a Fleetwood team that are always the rush and hassle style of football, were never going to let anyone have time on the ball least of all this lad,not knocking the lad, far from it, just the wrong game for him to start off with

Just got back..
What a horrendous night, credit to all that ventured out.
Anyhoos, onto less important things:
One thing you can count on this season is the inconsistencies in our play. I did warn against underestimating Fleetwood pre match. Probably the better technical team last night, but we were too easily muscled off the ball and physically lost that battle continuously. Also, they looked hungrier than us. Credit to Fleetwood. They're fighting for their lives, and the whittled out a way to win by surrendering possession and technical ability.
They were ably helped by an awful ref.
I think MT for it wrong throwing in all his loan signings for debut....I said pre match risky.... Burton on Saturday would be more conducive. Fleetwood too physical and we knew we were in a battle. I would have gone traditional 4-4-2 last night and stuck with the defence from Saturday.
Vaughan reminded me of Anthea Turner.... easily on the eye, bobbed up and down a bit, loads of effort but very little substance. Gave the ball away, tried to take on the whole team, pretty ineffective.
Baggot was at times too slow and on one occasion closed down from such a distance he didn't get his pass on... Their number 20 much admired, gave him a torrid first half.
Aguilera was head and shoulders above everyone with his playmaking ideals.... you could see how much time and control he commands with the ball. Ok, he overhit one or two, but his willingness to effect that crucial through ball was there to see.... only unfortunately everything ahead of him was statuesque. Which you could see, was frustrating.
The others....well this was the ponderous no tempo in attack Rovers we are used to seeing. It got marginally better with the enforced change of LT for Hunt, but our manager must coach a way into the lads against teams that come on to you, man mark and put five across the back.
Also, I'm not sure AE makes the best captain. A few times last night, he insisted on taking the corners when others were closer and just wanted to get on with it - yep, they couldn't find their intended because Fleetwood were massive. It's true CM had a bundled header saved on the line direct from corner, and the cheeky back heel that set up LT (both in first half) were AE inspired, but instinctively I think Wilson is a better at direction.
To conclude... Once again our weaknesses were exploited, and although we didn't play poorly, we just weren't up to the task of winning this because we are too slow in attack. But, hey it doesn't really matter, Fleetwood needed the points more and our whole demeanour reflected that. Congratulations to them, they deservedly won. A shame....another missed opportunity.
Hope everyone got home safe.

Need more speed/physical presence up front apart from poor old CM (no threat to opposition) Yes, not much threat up front and a definite lack of pace. At times Fleetwood packed their half of the field with five at the back and five across midfield. They cut out our passes and stifled any attempt to run at them with ease and seemed to have bodies everywhere. We just couldn't handle it.

I can recall myself actually counting how many they had on the pitch as it seemed we were outnumbered all over the park!!

We just do not like physical sides that can play ugly. Didn't under the previous incumbent either. Clubs that can grind out a physical battle and have a bit of nous. In fairness every time Fleetwood got the ball they looked to attack as well.
And we also started the 'play from the back' possession football that failed us before. I appreciate the boss must have thought about their aerial strength but build up was so slow at times Fleetwood had time to regroup and set up 5-5-0 after they scored. For the loanees - welcome to League One bottom football. At least you will meet teams who will want to play football. But better get stronger.
