Another way to look at it... One prevailing theme I've seen on kit launch is that people want a shirt they can wear away from going to a game. That the quarters are great, but you wouldn't wear it shopping. That what is wanted is a simple, plain shirt, that goes well with jeans or trousers or shorts, that you can wear going for a walk, down the pub, or out shopping. Well here it is. Agree with you re. wearing the shirt down the pub or shopping. I think it is quite smart, for a football shirt. Not so good for picking out a team-mate on the other side of the pitch, though, especially at a quick glance.

The training tops are available for fans who just want a shirt for leisure, football shirts are supposed to be just that, something reasonably distinctive, last seasons hit the mark, this season's seems identical to Man U's notorious grey strip.

Any number of ex players could have done that, Ollie is a QPR fan. The deaf thing is admirable, much respect, but I don't see how that equates to an away shirt? Seems like a virtual signal too far for me. In real time yesterday, our kit didn't stand out, looked like a training top and will be in a few years as forgettable as the season just passed - it's boring - but hey we're unbeaten in it so far, and as long as it remains like that it might be the most important away kit yet!? Otherwise a yawn from me. Olly was a good call because of his children and he has a lot of history with us as well as QPR. As to him being a QPR fan my guess is you are being a bit mischievous. I Reckon you’d see blue and white quarters if you cut him in half rather than hoops As far as I know Ollie is a Rovers fan himself and still calls us his club he's said it quite a few times.

Yes, if I remember right , one year Manchester United had a greyish kit, playing away at Southampton, ditched it at half-time, and came out in differerent colours.

I did think about mentioning training tops seem to have become the thing to wear for away from going to a match. And also a fair few on show at the ground. Quite a recent thing. They seem to have improved in style. Still nice to wear the proper shirt though.

I think the away kit as well as the concept is magnificent.
Whomever came up with this deserves a right good Pat on the back.

I'm a bit of a football shirt collector (no, my SV Tasmania Berlin shirt is not for sale)! I think it's a great shirt and the message in the Ollie video was spot on. Well done Rovers. (Sadly I won't be buying it).

No question the new executive Vice President Abdullatif Al Saeed is going to make a big impression and shake up the club, he most likely was behind the away shirt. His cv states his qualities are leadership, management and organistional development. All of these three ingredients have been missing massively from the South Stand fiasco. At 34 Abdullatif can go a long way in driving the club forward and running it properly under the new owner.

At 34 Abdullatif can go a long way in driving the club forward and running it properly under the new owner. I hope you are right. It continues to amaze me how so many Gasheads refuse to face reality and only yesterday on the other forum Hugo made an astonishing post in which he said that apart from appointing JB as manager he "doesn't think Wael has made a single mistep yet". Eric is also someone who has vehemently opposed my views over the years and today he has posted that the way the distribution of season tickets has been handled is "a disgrace and shambles". He asks why the club let this process run to the wire season after season but the answer is obvious. It's because despite all the evidence that the club doesn't run it's business properly too many Gasheads think they are being loyal to the cause by lauding the myth of "greater professionalism" whenever they get the opportunity. And by doing this they actually encourage the crazy blundering which goes on season after season. So far we haven't heard much from the Al Saeed family and I'm hoping they'll soon tell us what their plans are for Rovers. But in the first short statement they made there was one telling sentence which Gasheads need to take notice of. Hussain Al Saeed said "it is our duty to make sure we do everything possible to improve the current state". That sounded realistic to me because he wasn't trying to kid us that everything was rosy and that he had just come in to let the club carry on in the same direction and to get the FM Stadium over the line. The implication was that he is aware of the current state the club is in and knows something has to be done about it.

You may well be right that he has an influence on how things are conducted at the club, from here on. But I would be very surprised if he had anything to do with the away shirt. These things are planned months in advance (should be more, judging by our last minute reveals every year! ), and surely he would have no idea about Ollie's family situation. This seems more following on from the lead of BRCT and their Gas Girls shirts, with shirt sponsorship tie-ins with Her Game Too and St. Paul's Carnival.

Until we have some information on their backgrounds we've no idea if they are capable or not of making the club more professional.
